In some weird way, i hate valverde because we dont play in some spectacular way anymore so that non-barca fans would actually watch barca matches, because i feel they dont know how good is he actually. I feel sorry for them. Not just because im a barca man, i feel that universe 'should' award this man with another ucl trophy this year, so that in history books would be written about two messi era's, younger animal and mature wise sorcerer. I wonder what guardiola era would look like with this version of messi, with prime xavi and iniesta. I enjoy his football skills like i never did before right now

Not a bad season so far. Only two games where he couldn't grab an assist or a goal. Last one several months ago.

It's strange how much this game was set up to shove pele's words down his throat. Messi had two headed chances and a right footed chance that were just missed or saved. Neither became goals but Messi just showed why he is the greatest ever with that all round performance.

Let's hope Messi will recover fully during the 2 days before the Tottenham match. I hope he did not work too hard today, just to prove the silly Ballon D'Or voting wrong.
Recovering quickly has never been his forte - hopefully he can do it this time (although CL Group lead is secured already).
Anyway, watching him play at his top level is such a delight to watch: he could have scored 5 today - 2 headers and 1 goal with his right foot in addition to the freekicks.
And his passing is out of this world as well. He now has 11 goals and 8 assists in La Liga, despite missing games due to a broken arm.

I read that article years ago. A lot about Pele is a myth. Especially the 1000 goals.
He also played vs amature farmers but was still the stand out player of his era.
What I would like to know is if he was the only one putting up these numbers?
For example if you look at Hungary in the 50s Daek, Puskas and others were tearing it up with 10-0 type scores not being uncommon. So that atleast puts the high numbers in perspective. Wonder if its the same for Pele.

Very good Performance from Lionel.

Messi should get a rest against Tottenham. Next week against Levante which won scored 5 goals against us last season.

If we count the friendlies which are half his goals then i think one player has more than him but before the guiness records started. The commentator mentioned something last night. If we count official goals there are Josef Bican and Romário before him. Yes its the same for Pele. He was scoring like 8 goals in a game vs the peasants in Brazil.

Unreal yesterday.. apart from goals and assist what about that first time ball he did over the top for Suarez when Suarez hit the post..... that would have been one of the best assists of all time. Fuck you Suárez
