This moment perfectly described what Neymar brings to the table . The moment Messi cuts inside in those situations , Neymar would make a run behind the defenders of the opposition and Messi most of times picks up those runs and launches a perfect lofted pass to Neymar. As you can see now , no runs were made by the players on the left side , you can even see Messi looking up to see if he can spot someone making a run. So please don't come with those clueless statements like "Purely hypothetical of course. To me, Suarez front Messi right was/is critical. Neymar contributed, of course, but not convinced he was essential". Neymar was essential for us in winning the treble and it clearly showed in both the games.

Watch the game Flavia.

Be sure to borrow the glasses Bernie is using though, otherwise no one else will be able to "watch it".

Μessi was set up exactly 1 time, the shot who tried to be precise with but ended straight on the keepers feet.
Don't make stuff up pls.

The one he skyed over the crossbar at 70 minutes from the top of the box, off a cutback pass, also comes immediately to mind. So much for your "exactly." #selective memory

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??

Yeah ok, that's 2 chances and the latter is kinda far fetched since he wasn't in a good position.
But you said "several" which implies that he was missing chances all night long.

I would be really confident about tonights match about us winning if neymar would have been there.Yes, he is not the most essential player of our team but he sure as hell matters a lot.

Perfect illustration there, messi2140. Having become so used to seeing that awesome left-to-right connection between Messi and Neymar and seeing how crippled our attack became when it wasn't there was eye opening. The great combination of Messi drawing the eyes of defenders by making a run inwards (which does demand attention, you can't just let him keep slipping or he'll likely go the distance himself), and Neymar timing a deceptively quick dash behind the defensive line at just the right moment, with Suarez running into a dangerous at the same time giving yet another passing option... Defenders can't keep track of all three of them at the same time and are bound to let at least one slip by into a dangerous space. And Messi somehow almost always manages to pass it to the right man.

Neymar, Suarez and Messi got into this flow where their off the ball movement in front of the one with the ball was so perfectly in sync last season, it was just extraordinary to watch. I mean so many of our goals came from this sort of situation where one of them received a ball from Messi in a very dangerous area and either controlled and shot, or passed it back to someone in the box for a tap-in or continued attacking play. Losing Neymar on the left put Suarez a bit out of rhythm movement wise as well - as if it wasn't enough that Messi alone was missing the usual offensive passing options.
