Hey, I'm not defending Ney here - maybe he is guilty of tax evasion and should pay the taxes he owes, but 45M??? And besides, who would the money go to anyway? The case is related to his gainings from Santos, Barça and Nike, during 2012 to 2014. He was accused of tax evasion and fraud here. The irs here say he didn't pay around 16m euros, so now they have to pay 45m, for interests and fines.

Brazil is in deep financial turmoil right now. Some of the biggest giants in several industries as well as politicians are getting massive jail sentences for corruption involving money schemes. They've been making examples of everyone and this just seems like Neymar is another example. As a Brazilian, I don't mind only because rich people have been getting away with this crap for years. Time for people to be scared of not paying taxes.

According to Forbes, his gainings for 2015 alone were 27m euros. Th 45m is the amount that was evaded plus fines and interests. The interest rate is high here in Brazil, hence why the amount jumped from 16m to 45m.
