Lucho messed up, I agree. He tried to overcomplicate things. I can't believe how little was Marcelo put under pressure the whole game. He had space to do whatever he wanted, and it resulted in him probably being the Man of the Match in this clasico. Instead of seeing Messi exploiting Marcelo's weaknesses in defending, we saw Marcelo tormenting both Alves and Rakitic.

Rakitic had a decent game, but Marcelo owned him. This is mostly because of Lucho's tactics. You can't ask Rakitic to cover that much ground on his own. Basically being both midfielder and winger.

Had Messi played on the wing, Marcelo wouldn't have ventured forward as much as he did. He would have instead had his hands full covering Leo.

Don't know what happened in the team meeting, but the next time, I hope we see Leo more on the wing and creating more from there as well as keeping Marcelo in check.

Exactly, I sort of wrote a similar thing in the Messi thread just now. With Messi on the right side, Marcelo has to be very careful with what kind of space he leaves behind. One misplaced pass down the pitch and the ball quickly finds it way up to Messi, who is then either unmarked or marked by a defender out of position. And from there he can wreak a lot of havoc.

No idea why Lucho decided to tinker with a tried and true formula in this game.

Yep. Either way, good to get it out of the system. I doubt the same mistakes will be repeated, and this defeat might spur the beasts inside the players for the remaining couple of months. They're not immortal and this is a reality check.

You waste your chances or don't play well, and you get punished.

Horrormar must wake up for the final and most important part of the season. Only two months remaining so no time to wait anymore from him.

Messi in the middle didnt suit Neymar at all.

It meant Real could sit narrow and quite easily shuffle over to deny him space. They were no stretched in the way teams are when Messi is on one touch line and Ney the other.

Also meant Messi got the ball a lot more and he slowed the game down far too much. Can barely think of times Ney got ball early in positions with space to attack in behind one or two players.

He played poorly, still set up best chance of game.

L'équipe claims PSG is going to go all out for Neymar this summer, ready to pay his €193m release clause.

At this price, Neymar can be freed from his contract with Barcelona which lasts untill june 2018. PSG understood that and has intensified their discutions with Neymar's father and agent.

Some of the reasons mentioned in the article were:

• Neymar loves Paris and would be happy to live there
• A lot of Brazilians, Lucas Moura and Thiago Silva are among his friends.
• Neymar himself and his father are in a uncomfortable position with the Spanish fisc and the father has already threatened to leave Spain
• Leaving Barca for Paris would allow him to step out of Messi's shadow and win Champions League independently of him, improving his Ballon d'Or chances

Lol, it seems like we always get all the bad news at once when we first get them. Clasico loss and fatigued team, Messi with more tax trouble, Neymar seems to be unmotivated and might leave at the end of the season for all we know etc. etc.

Why would he downgrade himself? Plus he is happy here there is nothing to suggest he leaves. He'll sign a new contract soon.
