maybe he should stick to saying the political statement that benefits everyone... except the fans that desperately want to get answers despite barca as a team and management benefit zero from

If it was only talk. The problem is those political statements are being played out exactly on the pitch. Dembele's ability is being sacrificed while Malcom is not getting any playtime.

If playing him on the left allows Malcom to get a bit more game time in his preferred position, then I’m all for it.

Yeah Malcom is practically drowning in playtime these days, thanks to Dembele

I think it's clear to most of us that Dembouz is a better overall player from RW than LW. He can score on both sides, but his playmaking skills are better on the right.

However, our coach doesn't see that.

The tweet you posted states the same thing. Valverde knows he's better on the right, but it's true he does well on the left too.

No it doesn't. He says that he knows he was better at RW at Dortmund, but now he sees him as an all round winger, who can play on both sides equally.

If playing Dembele on the left would mean minutes for Malcom, I'd be all for it. But now it means a big hole in attack on that right wing.

Dembele on the right means Messi roaming space is limited (Messi has never been a player only to come through the middle), so Valverde is totally right

That's why you need to switch. And Dembele and Messi could implement that into their game. When one is in the middle, the other one is on RW.

The thing is that Leo, despite being a RW on paper, he doesn't spend more than 20% of the time there and our right side suffers (and as things stand now, with Suarez's form, he needs to come closer to the goal). Also, he mostly roams in the middle, dropping as deep as Busi sometimes. Alba can cover the whole left side basically on his own, but our RB's can't (without losing defensive stability next to Pique, which is very dangerous). That's why we need a true winger there.

This is Leo's heatmap against Lyon (from whoscored), where he played as a quasi RW:

And this is Leo, Suarez and Dembouz combined:

Doesn't say equally. Dembele indeeed can play on both sides.

Of course he can play on both sides. But playing him on the left, while he is better on the right is keeping him from showing what he can really do. And we need a true RW.

I prefer that Dembele plays on the right rather than on the left because we already have Alba who already provides the attacking threat on the left.

If we play the rumoured line up of today [(433) Mats---Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba---Bob, Busi, Rakitic---Messi, Suarez, Dembele], I feel that we are going to focus 90% of our attack on the left wing while the right wing will not have a lot of attacking threat.

I would make a small change using only the rumored players mentioned to something like a [(asymmetrical 4231) Mats---Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba---Rakitic, Busi---Dembele, Messi, Bob---Suarez]

I think this lineup has more of a balanced threat from both sides and Bob could cover for Alba whenever he is attacking. Bob would occupy the left half space with Alba on the LW while Messi occupy the right half space and Dembele can take the RW.

Does he roam anymore though? My eyes tell me that Messi is mostly quite static most of his matches and only animates, when ball somehow gets to his feet. His off the ball running is non existent. Dembeles is so much more lethal on the right. Most of the game changers he did there. He also has good understanding with Mess so it's imo preposterous to think that they can't work on nominally same side. In fact, the right side would be revitalized with them and Semedo also linking up great with Dembele. As has been said, Alba provides the attacking option on the right.

Additionally, (provided that Lucas plays again on RW) the left side of RM is weaker defensively since Vinicius isn't known for hard work off the ball. Playing Dembélé on the right gives Barça more advantages since Semedo is a different beast with a winger in front of him too.

Hasn't been himself after the injury but humiliated carvahal big time lmao , at the end of first half.

Funny when he received the ball and wanted to burst towards the goal he had to rise his head up and see that no one can't be bother to burst with him towards the goal.

Had the ball around the box area near the corner , wanted to cross , lifted his head up noticing 6 RM players and Suarez just walking near the RM keeper ,lmao.
