After Coutinho's performance today, EV will be keen to make him the starting LW in important matches again, so Dembele has to put some great games now to convince him otherwise. Hopefully he doesn't sulk.

Because of 1 golazo and being shit otherwise?

Yup, that sounds as Valverde.

No, Coutinho has been good for a while for those with open eyes.

Still Dembele opens things up for Barca no-one else can do.

Barca is better with both playing well. You have 3 subs for a reason and it is smart to use them.

If anyone was off today it was Suarez, he should be doing more Liga match sitting so there should be plenty of playing time for both.

What is with you being the forum contrarian. Jamdav is that you?

I have been saying since mid feb he has been combining well with suarez and messi and reduced the amount of low reward high risk plays that plagued the 1st part of the season and was quite frustrating to watch. Can't help it others can't see it for themselves watching matches nor bother to check game metrics.

Dembélé will be fine.
It's funny how some people change their words so quickly after one or two games.
As Suárez, Raki, Busi etc. will eventually get replaced by younger players in two seasons, our mobility and transition will significantly improve which will help Dembélé perform better.

I watch matches. That's how i know Coutinho repeatedly runs into a wall of defenders when dribbling and loses the ball. That he's a one trick pony who wants to switch to his right foot and curl it in the corner. That his body language leaves a lot to be desired. Your game metrics won't tell you that.

I watch matches AND look at metrics. If you haven't seen it is a different Coutinho (a lot less running into wall of defenders and a lot better combo plays leading to chances or goals by the team) the last 10 weeks vs the first part of this year--you havn't had an objective and keen eye. He has made important contributions to our stranglehold on every competition we are in this year.

Is he 160 mil great, no. Is he one of the 8 or so best players during this great period of Barca results (smashing Real's season to zero, league sown up, ideal spots in cup pursuits), yes.

If you want Barca to sell him it also has been a good period, his value has been increased tremendously and makes his fall slump a blip in his Liverpool/Barca/national team career.

Since this is a Dembele thread all this is tangential. Even at his best he can't rival Dembele's pace and explosiveness on the wings--nor can anyone else rival Dembele in this regard, they do different things. Recognizing Coutinho is playing well and contributing to the team doesn't mean Dembele doesn't potentially offer more when fully fit and in match form.
