If Dembele fulfills even half of his potential the transfer will have been worth it considering the fact he can give us 8-12 more prime years.

He doesn't strike me as gladiator like Robben who had mental strength and willpower to overcome injuries and pure professionalism to stay this fit in his 30s.

Not saying it was chump change...but Van Dijk being bought for 90 mil does put things into perspective.

The comparison to Robben hurts. Just hope that these injuries following up one another is just a freak incident.

I sincerely hope that wasn't serious....

Robben was also a very special player, he got injured pretty bad at Blackburn in 2004, never looked the same for Chelsea and indeed Madrid. Reinvented himself somewhat at Bayern, still plagued by injuries, but transformed his game slightly. Lost the explosiveness he had at PSV and for a few months in his first year at Chelsea.

Guy has been world-class for years.

He's been world class ever since he was 20. The Robben you see today is considerably more clinical, but pre Blackburn injury he was an absolute monster. He'd have comfortably surpassed Cruyff but for that injury IMO.

He's only had a handful of games. No adjustment period yet and he's had some very nice moments. I don't want him going anywhere.
