He will never improve if he doesn't get sufficient minutes to find rhythm. I hadn't seen enough of him before he joined but being a sub for Aleix Vidal isn't going to improve him or integrate him to the team to see if he can match any of his potential.

He's low on confidence, it's absolutely absurd of Valverde to bring him on at 1-1 with 15 minutes to go as there's even more pressure for him to pull something out of the bag to win it. Granted people will argue he cost £90 million so he should be doing that regardless but it's only going to dent his confidence more in situations like this. He strikes me as the kind of player who needs a few touches and dribbles to really get going no matter the game is. He does seem to have zero balance with those boots though.
