He isn't too bad given pressure was on when he came on. He clearly needs more game time. If people think Paulinho or Vidal is better than Dembele, then go ahead. Pretty sure starting the likes of Vidal, Gomes and Paulinho can bring you a treble this season and the next few years.

Kid can't pick proper boots now? What's next? Is he really that dumb to have problems like that or not knowing eating shit will hinder his career.

Still, I don't think he was that bad when he came on. If he starts against Atletico he will be under pressure too so no use lamenting over it.
Don't think we bought a bad player and he can very well turn out great but his mental capacity for it is questionable.

Yes. A lot of this will depend on veterans in our squad IMO. Hopefully the likes of Suarez, Iniesta and Alba can help him. He seems a bit hot-headed like Neymar, but I think he doesn't ego as big as him.

Well, I think he's just a stupid kid and that it will take a lot to succeed here where pressure is enormous.
Maybe I am presumptuous but I am looking at pattern how he treated Dortmund, failed to take care of himself that summer right until now and probably being s factor in his injury as well. Not making more effort with the language and to blend in is also indicative.

Yes, that is the scary thing. He can turn into an egomaniac/cunt. Hopefully the older players will ground him a bit. What somehow tells me that he won't is that he is a Barca fan since he was very young (I hope I'm right, otherwise we'll be screwed in a few years time...). Footballing wise he has enough weapons to succeed here. The language... I think he picked up a bit, since he is speaking with players now without Umtiti/Digne's help.

Also, if there is trouble at home, he should move away.

Here's all of Dembele's quotes from that interview below.

Just a safeguard if BarcaSpiral_ would be taken down in future (like it happened with BarcaStuff, BarcaNewsForum etc).

- Dembélé: "The transfer? I spoke with the new coach and Samu [Umtiti] before I came to Barcelona. That made it all feel much more natural."

- Dembélé: "I got injured, but I tried to stay calm. I felt it was better for that to have happened at the start of the season than towards the end, when the really big games come."

- Dembélé: "I’ve hired an osteopath and a cook. A good diet is essential for a player and I need to look after myself."

- Dembélé: "Me and Luis [Suárez] have hit it off well together. We both like joking about."

- Dembélé: "I’ve fought hard to get where I am. I always knew I was going to play with Messi one day."

- Dembélé: "I’m ambidextrous. I prefer to dribble with the left but I like shooting with my right foot."

- Dembélé: "I'm not selfish on the pitch. Otherwise I wouldn’t have made 21 assists last season."

- Dembélé: "My school time? Ouuuuhhhh ... Ouch, ouch, ouch [laughs], always in the back of the class. No just kidding, I was not at the back of the class. In fact, I was ... [he shows with his hands] you see the center? Just on the side. The teacher did not see me too much."

- Dembélé: "My first match with Rennes; I was very small. For my first game, I forgot my shoes. And they gave me Puma shoes, and with that, I scored two goals."

- Dembélé: "Why I left France so quickly? There was a good project. I spoke with Dortmund, especially with coach Thomas Tuchel. I talked with him, he said to me, "If you're good, you play." I told him, "OK, OK."

- Dembélé: "What I liked about Dortmund was that they became interested in me very early, before anyone else."

- Dembélé: "Which other clubs were interested? I spoke to three clubs: Dortmund, Liverpool and Barcelona. I had an appointment with Barcelona. I told them, "For next season, it will not be possible. But the next time you contact me, I'll come." That's what happened."

- Dembélé: ""Am I disappointed with how I left Dortmund? Yes and no. I couldn't say no a second time to Barça. It was impossible for me. [he raises his arms to heaven] I'm in a crazy club now, every year, the club is semi-finalist or finalist of the Champions League!"

- Dembélé: "From Rennes to my signature, I have always been in touch with Barça. I often received messages from Barça, including from the sports director. And then, there was the departure of Neymar. Barça told me: "Now, we want you. We want you to come to Barcelona next season"."

- Dembélé: "I spoke with the new coach, Valverde. I also spoke with Samou [Umtiti] In June, I spoke with him when there was still nothing. He said to me: "Next year, you have to come.""

- Dembélé: "My meeting with PSG president Nasser? We had arranged an appointment. It went really well, he's a very good president."

-Dembélé: "Was I tempted? [Nods to say no]"

- Dembélé: "Am I a very unpredictable player on the field? It's innate, it's in my genes. It's like that. I arrive in front of my opponent and even me, I do not know what I will do until the last, last moment."

- Dembélé: "If I had to tell you about Ousmane? He's a quiet guy, he laughs a lot, he likes to chat. The best at FIFA. Ask the others, they'll tell you [shows his friend Moustapha and his cousin Malick], I'm not as shy as people think."

- Dembélé: "What the France NT represent for me? Ahhh .... All ! Wearing the blue jersey is something. You represent your country, you are one of the best players in your country, it is a pride. Representing your nation around the world is an honor."

- Dembélé: "My chances for playing at the World Cup? I do not know, you have to ask the coach. I do not like to make propaganda and say "Yeah, I'm here, I'm here" just for the coach to notice. No, no, I'm not like that."

Speaks well and doesn't come off as a dumb kid tbh. I think he's just been badly managed as most of the signings. Once he got the green light and he's been declared fit, he should have played almost every game except the Chelsea one. But he only started one, the Girona match, in which he was great.

The manager is just too conservative and too scared to develop this kid's weapons and use them to our advantage because he is not very good defensively. Kid won't be ready next season either if you don't play him a lot to integrate him properly. And on top of that, the results in the games were he was kept on the bench were poor lately as well. So, in the light of the recent bad results in La Liga, there's not one logical reason for why you would keep him on the bench.

If Valverde has any brain, last night was the last away game in which we saw Paulinho and Vidal starting. Coutinho and Dembele need to start every game with some breaks here and there. Iniesta needs to play once a week at most, or even once every 10 days. Paulinho needs to become a bench solution, and Vidal the same. Valverde has the priorities and back-up options reversed. Roberto needs to become a midfielder first, and rotation RB after Semedo when he gets back.

In La Liga, the right flank needs to be Semedo - Dembele. The left flank needs to be Alba - Coutinho. Central midfield (CM and DM) should be any 2 or 3 pairings made from Busi, Rakitic, and Roberto.

I won't go too deep, I will give him some time in that area, but I have some extreme concerns about his IQ as his future biggest problem in turning into a world class decisive player.

Again, let's wait for some time and see him on a field (and off the field) more often.

Maybe it would be if Barça still had +10-11 pts. Now Valverde, a safe approach coach, is in panic mode. He will go safe way even if it is worst way. That's just my impression but it really looks like it.

Dembélé would be great in that Madrid team with his precise crosses. In Barcelona? We'll have to wait. He is too far away from the goal. He'll have to look to get more goal scoring opportunities in order to succeed.
