I don't know anywhere in the world in modern football, that a 20 year old, who is so talented is considered someone you have to work with slowly to develop and he can't start many games.

Where does that happen anymore?

I understand his integration as been slowed due to injuries, but when he is behind Gomes in the pecking offer that's where I tap the hell out.

So much so that he isn't consider in a league game but starts a being less Match, that's just a joke.

Sane, Jesus, baily, ascenio who every else I'm forgetting are all getting major minutes to work out the flaws in there game certain things cannot be done in training alone.

All these folks defending Dembele like he’s your own brother; would you have the same opinion if it was RM that bought him and this same scenario played out?? Didn’t think so...

He is and always will be a flop, against parked busses which we usually play against he just doesn’t have the quality.

No reasonable person is going to any judge any player who has been injured for half of the season and has only had 10 apps in his first season at a new club.

It simply is not a reasonable approach to reach a verdict on any player regardless of what club they play for.

The venom being spewed towards this kid is amazing. He's played about 8 games for Barca, yes he's struggled but damn it's very early in his career. If he's still crap this time next year then yes it is time for concern. But he's young and still maturing, let's give him a little bit of time before we dismiss him as a flop.

First of all, Dembele is French. You just don't tell a Frenchman not to eat a baquette, nutrition be damned, some things are sacred.

Good post, vBBZ. So, around 3/4 of the young players signed do not make it at Barca. Not too many veterans make it, either. The big reason is that even if you are really good, or have very high potential, the Barca style is unique, so becoming a key Barca player is a long-shot. The team has to try to bring in newbies, but most will need to move on. Good distinction between the young acquisitions who had significant high level experience and those with under 100 high level games.

The Barca coaches say Barca tries, expects, to win every competition, every game. This is true, and I think this is different from any other team. This is not a training operation, performance is mandatory to continue to play much. That makes it very tough for those coming to the team without extensive top-level experience. Dembele could need a season, or a half season, out on loan.

Arent's you the one who talks shit about all of our young players like Deulofeu and Suarez etc. Players who didn't get many chances and/or didn't have a full season to judge? You are one of those posters who want certain players to fail too.

I never said that Suarez was finished, like some posters here. I was criticising him, because he was just dreadful up until mid December (and he is not exactly a young player anymore).

Deloufeu is a different story. His attitude here seemed like he achieved everything with Barca. I liked Deu at the beginning of the season, but as the months went by, it just showed that he is the worst fit for Barca, despite being at La Masia. He is also the reason why Valverde started using 4-4-2. Because we had no good wingers.

you do when you're being payed millions to kick a ball or else you can fuck off.

As far as Dembele playing is concerned, I missed the Espanyol game, so can't comment on that, but if he slipped less than 10 times in the game, I consider it a step into the right direction.

I was excited when he was bought cause I'd seen him play for BVB, still am. Hope he makes it, but he needs to get adapted to the system first and you don't do that in the middle of the business end of the season, so Dembele has to make do with what he gets even though its a shitty hand he's been dealt.

You're welcome

He actually didn't slip a single time.
