Valverde benching Dembele=Dembele sucks is lol worthy.

Hard to trust Valverde when he comes off as a man afraid of his own shadow.

when did anyone say he sucks? He's just not as good as Mbappe. Sane, or Asensio are right now

Oh plenty of people have tried to use Valverde's reasoning of not playing him as a sign that he might not be good enough.

Sure we won the Double but Valverde has proven this season that he's a heavily flawed individual that made so many baffling decisions. Heck Lucho who we gave him shit in terms of not playing enough youth would probably have done a much better job handling Dembele than Valverde would.

TBH, Only Sane can be considered better because he is playing in a very good league and has good number of Goals and assists this season. Plus, he has Guardiola as his mentee. Mbappe may have got some good returns and he is better than dembele atm(just atm, dembele may surpass him soon), but he has done it in Ligue 1, which is still a farmers league at best (remember, 18 year old Dembele was a phenomenon in Ligue 1) and he can't be called the best youngster if he doesn't even plays against the best. And about Asensio, I have already elaborated in my previous post.

So, Right now, only Sane can be considered the better player. Mbappe is unproven, while Asensio and Dembele are not too far away from each other.

Of course those players are going to be out performing than Dembele. Their manager isn't Valverde.

You put Dembele under Klopp, Pep or Zidane and people would be raving over how lucky a team would be to have such a ridiculously talented player.

People, haven't you heard? Asensio has the BEST left foot ever!!!!11 It is known. FACT. :coffee:

I hope it is intended for sarcasm. Because Messi has the best left foot. Haha

And, Asensio is surely a big talent. But, having the 2nd best leg foot isn't enough to be the best, you need to produce numbers. To me, he looks like more of an impact sub for now, when opposing defenders are tired. He isn't that effective in those matches he has started, in UCL SF 1st leg he came late and scored one, while when he started the 2nd leg he went missing for the whole game, only to be substituted later. And, Best of all, While you guys criticize Dembele for his defending, just see the SF 2nd leg, Alaba was all over Asensio, he was easily putting crosses and Asensio couldn't do anything.

While Dembele may not have the best leg foot, he is ambidextrous, and has godly speed and acceleration, plus his crossing is also pretty good. If he improves his finishing and gets a coach who plays to his strengths, he can be a lethal player, even more than Asensio.

It is well said, "Grass is always greener on the other side".

Of course it is. After Supercopa matches, Madrid fans were saying his left foot being the best ever. There are many all-time great left-footed footballers, Messi, Maradona, Rivaldo, Stoichkov and so on...

He is good. I'm myself a fan. My favorite Madrid player, likable guy. Or so I think because don't follow any of them in RL. Just watch matches. But, IMO, Dembele has a higher ceiling.

Pretty well put, in fact. I agree.

One of the things I was excited about with Valverde is his handling of youth at Bilbao and that he would bring that here to Barcelona. But sadly as we can see that it didn't happen.

I wouldn't consider Valverde a god awful manager, but one that simply isn't forward thinking enough, especially for a club like ours. I want him to prove me wrong next season and I hope he does. But Right now I just can't see it.

He took Lucho's old XI without Ney and really didn't add much new to it. Paulinho played a lot but he's more of a 12th man guy kinda guy and we all know about Gomes,Vidal etc. We got Coutinho but Valverde doesn't really know what to do with him as he's played at LW,RM,LM and even CM.

It's crucial that Valverde needs to be more forward thinking in rebuilding the XI, we can't rely on the same players all the time.

He was kinda forced to use youth in Bilbao with their policy. They didn't want to spend any money either.

It doesn't really matter what he did with Athletic and Olympiacos. With all due respect to both clubs, Barca is a different ball game and so far the only thing he's proved himself to be is a coward. Thanks for the domestic double though, but I'm not going to ignore all the warning lights. Unless he changes the potential for a massive bust season is high as Real Madrid and Atletico are unlikely to start the season as bad as this season, and, our squad will be a year older with his pussy tactics restricting what Coutinho can do too as he'll have to cover for Messi who walks all the time and Suarez who has become a lazy bum.

perhaps he got too comfortable playing it safe, especially considering the amount of pressure at Barca opposed to Bilbao. start of the season we lost Neymar and Dembele early on, no Coutinho yet and somehow we scrapped by and i give him huge credit for that, its a tough start for a new manager.

next season we'll see if hes man or mouse

I'm afraid that Valverde forgot what happened when he played Paco as a RM in a couple of games this season. It was horror. And now, with Griezmann coming, we are again putting all our eggs in one basket, believing that this system will work with Griezmann. Yes, Griezmann is a better player, but I have a lot of doubts about it.

P.S. I believe that if Dembele is loaned/sold this summer, the Barca fanbase will go apeshit.

Nah. MD and Sport will make it out to be a masterpiece business move.

Sorry to say it, but the club doesn't give a shit about us foreign fans so better get used to it. A significant part of Spanish Barca Twitter are still calling Suarez for the best #9 in the World.

The delusion is strong. I bet they could even justify selling Messi.

I know that and it's sad. The fact is that our club and most of Barcelona-based fanbase is digging their heads into the sand, because they don't want to realise that Messi won't be here forever. We have around 4-5 years to get ready for that, because at that time Leo will either become an impact player or leave for Newell's. But we are buying forward after forward after forward, with an odd defender here and there. But everybody fails to realise that transition from Messi era to post Messi era would be made much easier, if we had a functioning midfield. Now, with Iniesta leaving, the only creative force in our MF is Coutinho, who isn't even condsidered a midfielder by Valverde (lol). Who do we have next in line? Denis? Lol. Next year, we will pray that Coutinho doesn't get injured, otherwise we are fucked. Same as we do now with Leo, but there will be twice the risk.

Also, everybody we buy is compared to Leo which is an utopia. He is the most unique player ever, so forget it. If we keep doing that, we will keep selling /loaning every player we get ASAP. We need some patience and long-term thinking, badly. Because if we don't do that, we are fucked when Messi retires/leaves for Newell's/becomes an impact player.

I agree. The squad planning is just a disgrace and they're hardly criticized for it locally in Barcelona.

Only one thing: Messi is a Newell's and River fan, not Boca ;)

Boca's for Mr. Crackhead and the unstable fatass Tevez, and all the other cheats in Argentina and Latin America.

Ah, Newell's. Had a brain fart, I meant Newell's. Fuck. I fixed it.

It makes sense why he is raising his kids to AC/DC Live At River Plate concert (probably one of the crasiest audiences ever).

I just read that the Dembele loan to Atleti is an attempt by the board to lower the price of Griezmann and getting him by a normal transfer.

What a bunch of morons. For our board it seems that striker=winger. Give them Paco as a part of the deal or sell him to EPL for €€€, if we are getting Griezmann.
