The criticism he's getting from fans is valid though. Barely played with barca and didn't play at all during the world cup, he should be training
He should be proving himself, I agree. He spent most of the time in Barca at home resting/healing his injury and out of training.
I mean I would like him to cut his vacations but it's not that big of a deal as long as he hits the ground running when the season starts.

It is not just about playing games. He was at the WC and training at a level to be ready.
Him getting rest/time away from football is fine.

Yeah agreed. It seems like he could easily come back earlier, considering he didn't play in the WC at all, and didn't have many minutes in the season with us either. In addition to that, he just saw a transfer that could potentially directly compete with him - you'd expect a strong willed and determined young player to be back in training earlier than required.
Having said that, we can't criticize him yet for taking the vacation he's entitled to. However, if he doesn't seem in good shape and takes a while to find his feet at the start of the season, then there can't be any excuses made for him.

I would like to see him back at least for the last part of the season. If he really wants to prove himself, he needs to back that with actions.

He will be the starting winger this season, unless Malcolm benches him. But I just don't see this happening in the first month of the season.

So Why they purchase Malcolm , I think Malcolm will be the in the starting line up that's why is good for this young talent to be loaned to arsenal

Because, if you remember last season, when Dembele got injured, we were forced to switch to 4-4-2, because he was our only winger. It's clear now that Valverde wants to play 4-3-3 mostly and you need wingers for that. Also, having two wingers is great for rotation.

He went to the States with Mendy and Mendy has now joined Man City's Pre-Season camp.
Dembele should do the same soon too. Sure he's entitled to his vacations, but ter Stegen came back a week or two early for his first three seasons at Barca and did everything he could to change Lucho's mind and get the job from Bravo.
Dembele would do well training with the team right now so he's ready to go when the season starts. I think Valverde will appreciate it too.

Dembele still trained with France throughout WC-tournament.
He's having same amount of vacation as Umtiti regardless of playing time in WC.
