Has 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games. Assist vs Getafe, goal vs Betis, goal and assist vs Sevilla. Needs to keep at it, because not many players have the engine to do run and press in min 80 like in minute 5.

Excellent result so far of his last matches, victory on victory, keep on the good work and maybe little by little he'll get less clumsy and more sharp through the game

Raphinha's first 14 matches for Barcelona: 1 Goal and 1 Assist.

Raphinha's last 15 matches for Barcelona: 5 Goals and 7 Assists.

Most G/A in all competitions in 2023 among La Liga players - 8.

Most Assists for Bar?a this season - 8.

Out of 29 games, he started only 16.

Stats wise a good season but I think on the pitch he can still give more and hopefully he will in next month until Dembouz is back.

The problem is Raphinha is not the player to just give the ball to and let him do his thing, the way we do with Dembele, and Madrid with Vinicius.

He is an off the ball player, meaning you pass him the ball in a timed manner when he makes a run (like De Jong did vs Osasuna and Kounde did last night), or when he has space to operate.

You can also give him the ball when he is crowded to move the opponent around, but other than a snappy change of direction, or a whipped cross in, you can't expect miracles from his type of player. Not that type of player to take on 2 opponents like Dembele does.

Instead he offers things nobody in the team does to that degree. Elite pressing, stamina, defending, power and physicality in duels, runs, and good crosses in the area.

That being said, he should still improve his dribbling, he is better at it that he has shown so far, even though he's no Dembele.

Even if he can't flat out beat players, he should still be clever enough to make room for a pass like the one for Gavi's goal, with some body feints and changes of direction.

His dribbling is not bad... in right scenarios.

Dembele can front up defenders and take them on both sides so from out wide isolated still a threat.

Raphinha is more recactionary and needs passing options players being dragged around him to try and leave space to dribble into and take advantage of.

He needs that chaos more central.

Yesterday he was more or less an AM at times.. if he can play in there well he could get chances there even with Dembele at times if Xavi goes to that two AM set up.

On wing getting ball with two defenders on him and it isnt his game.

He had the most pressures in PL with Silva. He can do it. That's one part he is elite.

Of course, if he stops doing that, a lot of his talent goes away.. He needs to be a work horse for Barca in order to survive.

This line is stripped off the textbook of Cardioman defenders when he was around.
Mate, a winger playing for Barcelona should do much more than defending, running, and winning duels...

True. Scoring, assisting... that sort of stuff.

How they do that is the personality and style of each player.

Dribbling past your man, and carrying the ball is no1 requirement to be a winger at Barca

Raphina is an AM We know that by now

But even as an AM he was horrible for 70 minutes last night.
One assist and one tap-in when Sevilla opened up can't erase it

Rubbish. Pedro didn't dribble past opponents. Neither did Villa.

Messi did.

It's about balance. You need a bit of both.

Pedro and Villa were not wingers, they were wide forward who become inside forwards when Messi dropped deep

Try again.
You might get it right in the Nth time

Right. And I'm not a poster on this forum, I'm a conveyor of written speech.

Xavi made some tweaks in the 2nd half, when instructed Kounde to hold the width on the right, so that Raphinia can play in the right half-space
which is the only position on the pitch where his flaws are not glaring. Was still bad until the 2nd goal.

Of course, this is not sustainable long-term. We can't play with one of our best CBs being ousted up and wide on the pitch to accommodate Raphinia.
I wrote some time ago that I would play Dembele out wide in his natural position, and Raphinia in the half-space if they were to play together, but that would mean sacrifice one midfielder...

Still a long way to go to turn him into an acceptable Barca player, and find a way that he works in our system
