14 - Javier Mascherano

Vice President of FC Barcelona
If Alexis is the father of Pedro's child then Tello is the father of Mascherano's wife.

We don't need him at all in midfield, Busquets is more than capable of handling matters. For me, the question is whether to play Cesc or Iniesta, and I'm really not sure which one of them is the better bet. I understand that Iniesta is better at retaining possession and all the jazz, but Cesc has been directly involved with so many goals this season, I feel like his attacking contributions would make up for his occasional lapses in possession. What do you guys think?

True that. Cesc and Iniesta combination can be very good. I know that they didn't work together so well in some games they played at the same time but I think things might be better with Cesc Busquets Iniesta in midfield. You have a maestro in Busquets, direct player in Cesc and possession player in Iniesta. Who's of course capable of pulling an out of this world type of decisive pass that Xavi seems to have lost.

I'd say start with a Cesc-Busi-Iniesta midfield and then introduce Xavi in the second half to overwhelm Atletico and kill off the game.

I see Xavi can be used very well these days in the games we need to kill. Specially the tight games where we only 1-2 goal lead. Keeping possession and rotate the ball with confidence and so much coolness. Against Atletico we need to go more for goal and be fast and direct.

Iniesta will start 100 % IMO. Got subbed off after 60 minutes against Getafe for a reason. Tata's "I will have to leave players out that don't deserve it" comment followed by "Cesc was our best player today" looked like a consolation gift to Fabregas to be honest. Cesc can still come in as a sub against tired legs and spray Hollywood passes around after Xaviesta take control of the game and calm it down first.

I'd play him in a CB pair with Pique against Atletico. I think Tata will use him there. I wouldn't play him in midfield, since we pretty much have 4 amazing midfielders for 3 spots. He can play in our midfield only when we're out of solutions. Now we certainly have solutions.
