14 - Javier Mascherano

It could just be a precautionary thing, in case he leaves...if he was cup-tied his value would go down...doesn't mean he's definitely leaving Liverpool

Keeping him from being cup-tied, however, does indicate a willingness from 'pool to deal the player...Otherwise, there's no reason he wouldn't be in the squad...I say odds on him leaving the club just shot up

First post on the Mascherano thread. There's two reasons we will inevitably sell Masch , number 1 he wants to move to a new country , number 2 we are skint and the yanks need money to pay off the 2 million pound interest we're paying every single day. I think he would be a great buy for Barcelona as he is the best defensive midfielder in the world , simple as. When do a team like Barca get the chance to sign a player like this for so cheap , 20 million is fuck all considering we payed 17 for him when he was alot younger and less experienced. The lads attitude is absoloutley fantastic , he gives his all in every game. I don't want him to leave but if there's one team i wouldn't mind him going to it's Barca.

It's kinda funny how one of the best DM's in the world is too expensive for us, when we have paid 41.5 millions euro for players like Chygro and Martin Caceres, which we didn't even use at all.

I'm still supporting the "starter + backup" combo for the DM role though, which means something more like "Busi + Capoue" than "Busi + Masch". Less expensive, too. But really .. we're so strange sometimes, when it comes to the economy aspects of our transfer activities.

What most of you are not seeing is the simple reality that if Masch came here Sergio would get benched. Pep doesn't want to bench him, seeing to as he's a young and rising star and a local. Mascherano wont come b/c he doesn't deserve to sit the bench.

Economically....sell Yaya for 27 and get Masch for 20, maybe less...7mil profit aint too bad. I think Yaya at his best was one of the best DMs ever, Mascherano isn't quite as good but as someone pointed out he gives his all every single game and that is something not to take lightly.

Rosell is not Laporta,Now we have some liquidity problems.

It has nothing to do with our "financial problems" (which isn't that big of a problem anyway), we still have about 39 million euros that we can spend, it's just that Rosell isn't being extravagant which I have to say is a good thing. We really don't need to sign anymore players.

maybe we are keeping the money for the Cesc-operation next year?

Maybe. But if that was the case, my point would make even more sense. The management isn't dumb (contrary to popular belief), if they felt that we needed to spend right now and had the money for it, they would spend it instead of saving it for their obsession over Cesc, they obviously feel that they don't need to spend, and we don't. Our squad has gotten stronger as opposed to what some people suggest...

Well, I don't know. I'm trying to follow what Rosell is saying and he said - 50 mln to spend. This was after Villa and before Adriano. If we should trust his words - we have the money. But it's looking like our people are plotting something different than Mascherano. I have a feeling that we're not going to risk with a cantera for a specific position in modern football as the DM, so I'm actually expecting a move. Probably not Masch, but a move. Ya know - something really fast and surprising, just like Adriano.

Rosell said taht we have 50 to spend every year,we spent 10m on Adriano os there is still 40m to spend,I think that we should sign a DMF and it will probably Adriano-esque transfer indeed, not Mascherano but I dont know who.
