2 - Pau Cubarsí

There are likes of Pique and Eric as CBs who are just good at switching the ball and playing between the lines. But Cubarsi's vision is genius level. He sees the most incisive option almost every time, and he has the quality of the pass to execute it.
Good at defending as well. Rarely makes mistakes and his marking is very good.
Hopefully we give him time to work on his game and don't rush him.

His passing is ridiculous. Ter stegen should let him distribute ball.

Really quick with handling of the ball as well.

For yhe love of God protect him. The last thing we need is for him to be overplayed. Stupid national team calling him up.

He's another who will get underrated by fans because of his age. If that had been Van Dijk putting in that performance everyone would be saying that Van Dijk just showed why he is the best centre back in the world.

Now obviously Pau is not the best centre back in the world, but since he has come in the team, he has probably been amongst the top 10 centre backs in the world.

He and Lamine are very very special players who are guaranteed to be cracks. Any other fanbase who wasn't constantly filled with negativity, would be going absolutely nuts about them.

Best ball playing CB we've had since Marquez. His weight of pass is exquisite. Pass selection is impeccable. He's a real Kaiser at the back. Future captain perhaps?

Rare talent indeed.

And he showed all of this during his fuckin debut in the CL, round of 16 decider. He had absolutely no fear, played like he was a senior player going into his 7th CL season. How many established players fear a difficult pass in such a game and choose the easy one. Or just remember Andre Gomes, who feared even a normal pass at 25y? Cubarsi already outshines Kounde in passing, Araujo is not far ahead as well.
His debut performance is even more insane than many people understand if you think about it.

I’m trying to identify a weakness in his game but hard to find. I have seen him out of position on a couple of occasions in transition but it is remarkable how assured he is when in the right position. Always making the correct intervention in defense and of course with the ball, he is arguably the most important distributor in the back.

I love his passing from the back, it’s incisive and the ball is always arriving at forward players in stride and with pace. There’s nothing wobbly about his game at all - astonishing really

That ball to Fermin early in 1st half, wow - who does that??
