Want to see how his passing is against the fast press.

Remember the disasters of Bayern and Liverpool when guys like Pique and Longlay couldn't get us out of our box.

That expectation is mistaken. Piqué has always been good with his feet. Cubarsi is good too. But it's not solely the center-back's job to get the team out from heavy pressing. This requires the right structure and players in midfield, full-backs, and wingers, which thankfully we've never had against Liverpool and Bayern in recent years.

Your right. Our main failure was systematic.

Pique certainly struggled in his later years bar a couple of 6 month renaissance's though. And had a habit of slowing down distribution and play to conceal his defensive weakness (something when his knees weren't shot he never done as his anticipation was excellent).

But I want to see how Cubarsi manages when he has less time to play his passes. If he can consistently still find the outlets that break the lines from the defence, then we are onto a huge winner. And have somehow unearthed one of the best centrebacks of modern football.

Here we go... Cubarsi is called up to Spain NT. Friendlies against Colombia and Brazil. Crazy to think where the kid was just 2 months ago.

Hristo Stoichkov: "FC Barcelona's newest diamond and already MOTM in the Champions League! Well done Pau Cubarsi!"

It's a nice reward for these last 12 games but it is a position well covered. Hopefully they don't overplay him.

At his age there is no necessity to start him at the Euro Cup for example.

Should we start him against PSG?

Not a fan of this, PSG atrack is a different beast than Napoli and a bad game could affect his confidence.

OTOH, Inigo is mistake prone and Christensen is the only non awful option for CDM.

He should start for sure. Don't trust Inigo and Christensen will be needed in the midfield unless Xavi decides to start Fermin(mistake) or Romeu(lol).

Inigo is terrible.

Tie is a month away. Would see how Pau plays over the next month and if he is on form then no reason not to start him him in the first leg.
