His gesture shows a classic contusion, just a few days off. Everyone had a bruise playing football, hurts a bit early on, but in a few days it's gone.

De la Fuente (Spain NT coach): "Cubarsí has a slight ankle sprain, it doesn't seem serious. We want him to recover by Sunday, we'll see, but there are only a few days left, so we have to be careful with him."

Just play Asensio.

Lol at calling him up btw, and then having him behind late replacement for Inigo, Huijsen.

What was it, a plea bargain?

I guarantee DLF doesn't give 1 damn about Barca. I wouldn't send any players to Spain in the late stages of a season as close as this one.
Every team is obliged to send its players to the national teams, Fifa rules.

Official: Pau Cubarsí has left the Spain camp and will return to Barcelona.
@SEFutbol

Cubarsí is a doubt for Osasuna.

Why would he? He's Spain NT coach.

Barca do not have the right to veto call ups, players themselves do. And once you do, you're in deep trouble, given there's nothing personal between DLF and the players. The coach after DLF would note such disloyal attitude, no doubt.

I don't see Spain NT as some bad omen. Injuries could happen even during US summer tours.

Lamine could withdraw from the next 5 international with a broken fingernail and DLF ain't gonna do shit.

DLF knows full well that this Spanish team is entirely reliant on it's Barca core and won't be competing for anything without it.

DLF needs Barca players far more than Barca players need Spanish caps.

Sometimes I feel Barca leadership doesn't realise Barca's value. La Liga would plummet to a 3rd tier league without Barca, moreso than without Madrid ( whose viewership is small compared to our games )

Barca needs to start exerting it's power and break away from this culture of cuckery.

Faking injuries might trick the audience, not the staff at Spain NT. It's their job to monitor every player in the selection pool. "How come Lamine has broken toe nail and he plays 3 weeks straight for Barca?".

What kind of player would refuse to represent his country anyway, for no reason? Even Gerard Pique never channeled such sentiment.

I already said the club cannot do a thing about it, it's a FIFA/UEFA regulation. You can stop players from Olympics only.

Club cannot refuse it. Lamine won't refuse the call-up, and any fake injury is impossible as NTs also send their medical staff to do tests on the players or request the tests to be shared.

Most NT coaches don't give a damn about the club's situation. Their job is to find a winning formula and a system that works in the handful of matches they are able to get the players together.

The only times they agree to a club's request is if there's a knock with an injury risk or if there's no competitive game and just a friendly.

That's just the reality of it.

"sprain of the anterior tibiofibular ligament of his right ankle"

Anybody familiar with how long this keeps him out? It doesn't sound nice

It’s a pretty uncommon ligament to sprain tbh. Could be anything from few weeks to several months depending on how severe it is. Probably the former based on the little info I’ve seen so far, but it’s a much more uncommon injury compared to the typical ankle sprains the involve other ligaments.

hard to say with so little info tbh

Edit: Misread at first and thought it was the talofibular ligament, but unfortubately not
