The problem is Spain play Tiki Taka not direct attacking football like Atletico and Madrid. Plus the spine of Spain is till Barcas midfield which has had a massive decline.

Atletico and Real profited because there was no other top team in a fair form playing in Europe.
Bayern was in a "after super glory" year and we know how hard it is, after they won the title in Berlin they were shitty.
Borussia was there with half a team at home being out.
Barca clearly in a very bad year, no need to mention this one.
Chelsea was horrible with any team that doesn't give 100% on attack.
Manchester United totally out of form, could pose no threat to anybody except leftovers like Piraeus or Schalke in the final stages.
Any Italian team totally out too, Serie A is crap compared to 10 years ago when Juventus used to bully Real, though they are beating their records now with max points and are not capable of playing in the CL Spring, another example of how shite Serie A is.
Add all this, good season Real? Hardly any better than the previous 4, only no rivals to kick their puta asses, give them any of the mentioned teams in the usual form and probably rma would've exited to them.
Only prob is, Spain NT still had their chance, but was horrible everywhere, there's nothing in remarkable, Cazorla can be their man of the tournament

I agree. Which is why it is a problem if you keep the same core when it could be changed.

The fact that there were no real rivals doesn't take away from the fact that they were the best. And the fact that there were no real rivals should also translate into the world cup if Barca's decline translates into Spain's decline.

Spain really lacked someone with Pace that would run at the defences if they had someone like Messi, Neymar or Sanchez they'd of done a lot better and Only having one Winger with pace in the squad isn't good enough should of taken Navas or deulofeu

Spain, England and perhaps either Uruguay or Italy will be out of the world cup. Portugal/USA could also be out.
