I am Leg End
My Greek bias aside I'd cum in my pants if these were the quarter finals:-

Brazil - Italy
France - Germany
Holland - Ivory Coast
Argentina - Portugal

So many narratives and historical clashes if those came to fruition!

It looks like every team has regressed since the last world cup, only France look better. Which wasn't hard

I thought Messi was dross in both games, his goals bailed him out, he had a semi decent half 2nd half of the Bosnia game, 1st half was shockingly bad

Besic for Bosnia, Romero second would be my choices.

Calma, calma
You really think that? C'mon. First half vs Bosnia was bad but he created the most chances on either team in both games and had the match-winning goals to boot.

The thing with the likes of Besic is that they're tasked to guard Messi the entire game, and if they fail even once, they fail in their task. He let Messi go for the crucial goal of the game which means he really can't get the award. Romero is a close shout, but comparing his save to Messi's clutch goal, anybody would give it to Messi.

I just think those awards are given to the 'hyped' stars & far more favorable to goal scorers, 2+2 together

I wouldn't give it to Messi, he had turnover after turnover in both games & his work ethic was poor, every one of his moves were predictable & he has really regressed, if he didn't score those goals there would be an uproar on this forum.

When the award was given to Mario Balotelli over Andrea Pirlo in game against England, was all I needed to know

Romero probably deserved at least one of the awards, but let's face it, goalies need to do something ridiculous (see Ochoa) to win these things, especially when fans vote. Normally giving it to players who score goals is the lazy way out, but Argentina has been so awful that giving them to Messi for his golazos is hardly the most ridiculous thing in the world.

There is an uproar on the forum, it's be going on for over 6 months.

He was easily the Argies best player in both games, he's pulled off 2 superb goals to drag them to victory while they under perform... Aguero and Higuain in particular are choking hard. You must seriously dislike him to describe those performances as dross, only his first galf against Bosnia could be described like that.
