That's the unfortunate thing about the NTs. They dont have enough time to gel and work things up together. I don't think moving Messi to the middle will make everything goes fine all of a sudden. The team has already had some change of style after Sabella left. Changing it again in the middle of the tournament is not a good idea to me.

I think it would improve things. He'd be more involved.

Messi already played over 5000 minutes this season already. Run more? Not a fair thing to ask.

I do not expect him to run like Speedy Gonzales but he should try a bit harder. He's not the only player who had a long season.

Yeah there is a way: he should run more, or walk less to be precise.

He certainly should move more, but when he did a few times tonight, he was left isolated every time because he was the deepest among Di Maria and Pastore. Every single time he got the ball there was no space for him, especially with those two being further forward.

No one making any runs either. Far too many ball hogs right now.

Messi should run more to get the ball in better places. He looks tired and exhausted, needs to find that extra motivation otherwise it will be a uphill task. Also other players should messi by creating lanes to run into.

He doesnt just look , he IS tired and exhausted . Imagine playing the whole season except for maybe 90minutes , giving everything you have just to win something and you ended up winning the treble , Then after just one week you have to participate with your national team in a tough competition with players who didnt play for a month or so ! I think that's really hard and really stressing , yet he managed to play very well in both games he just needs a bit of luck , hope it'll be next to him next match .

Weak excuse to be honest. A bunch of these guys in this tournament are coming off long seasons. I don't even think he played bad tonight nor was he great. He was fairly tamed by the physical play. This was a normal tough game between two south american rivals., only thing missing was a few more red cards. There was no real standouts IMO. It's underrated how tough of a game against Uruguay is especially when they have no intentions of attacking.

Players could have started to punch and kick eachother and that ref would have only given a yellow.

Neymar wasn't getting calls last game either. I don't know what Conmebol officiating is on in this tournament. They just letting go. Brazil V Colombia will be another war tomorrow.

The meltdown in the chat was hilarious (as always). You can not expect anyone to comfortably beat Uruguay and especially not the greatest rival they have.
Apart from panicking in the last minutes Argentina played a solid game. It is very common to start scoring in the 2nd half against such a opponent after having a goalless 1st half. Uruguay opened up a bit after the goal and with better decisions on counters Argentina would have scored the 2nd to put the tie to bed.

I think the only one who had a really bad game was Di Maria. Truly awful and should see the bench against Jamaica.

They dominated Paraguay in the 1st game and totally bottled it. Tons of missed chances gave Paraguay the chance to score and Tata's bad subs gave them another opportunity to equalize. Games against Chile, Brazil and Colombia will be much more open and there will be way more space and transition opportunities for Messi & Co. Their defense is solid anyway.

Neymar should watch his back, literally. Specially when Zuniga is around.

Di Maria should definitely see the bench. Would it be unfair to call him the worst player of the tournament so far?
