You're welcome
Frenkie has improved a lot. He is expected to return to training, as reported a few days back, after the break. If he recovers well, it won’t take long for him to play again - but if things don’t go well, surgery would be needed, keeping him out for longer.
@Luis_F_Rojo

So he recovers well, but they still don't know how his ankle will react to pressure during the training. And then there's the problem that in training no one will actually takle him for real, while in the game another Valverde gonna crash fullspeed into his leg, so it's try out and see in his case from this point onwards.

a fullspeed crash into the leg can always injure any ankle of any player.

But it didn’t help of course he hadn’t fully recovered last time.

I think he overstayed his welcome, time to move on for him and us. Only thing saving him is Bernal’s injury - but we should ship him in the winter no matter what…

This. Lots of players will target that ankle. Doesn't even need to be an impact, a heavy shoulder to shoulder could break it too.

His market value is going to dip heavily I believe.

I think @Joan had a point, that the latest leaks about his injury means Barca are no more hoping for big sale for him, that this ship has sailed.
If anything, if his ankle still prove to be a problem this season, I think the club shouldn't be offering him renewal, nd wait to see how he does in his last year.

Frenkie de Jong is in the final stretch of his recovery. He's ruling out surgery, and could reappear after the international break. Hansi Flick expects a lot from the Dutchman. @alexpintanel

Since the player himself precluded surgery, if he has a replase as soon as he starts training/playing,
then how do you think a club should proceed in this case?

It is clear that the player has his own personal plan which does not meet the needs and expectations of the team

I'm thinking in case of a relapse he will opt for surgery, but until then he will work on returning to the pitch.

Opting for conservative treatment is always option one, people love talking about surgeries as a magical treatment that people should just go for, when it is rarely the case.

And no mattee what people think about, a player own health will always be his decision. There is nothing that can be done about it, there should be no pressure on the player.

And so far, there is nothing that says that he is misbehaving about it. He is working with the medical team to get back asap.

If anything, there is a bit to blame the club for, for rushing him when he wasn't ready. Second time to happen after Pedri, who is well documented to lose faith in the club medical team.

Ansu's case was butchered so badly by the club that Jorge Mendes paid out of his own pocket to fly him to a surgeon they actually trusted. Was sadly too late by then.

A surgery might have helped bring Frenkie back quicker, but could also have shortened his career. Who knows? Players always get second opinions and after some of the earlier mishaps by the club I don't blame our players for being skeptical about their practices.

There are probably some clauses in players' contract that reduce their compensation in cases their recovery plan diverges strongly from the clubs' medical team's recommendations. At least one would suppose so but the decision is always on the player.

But with Frenkie, doubt that was the case. Conservative treatment is always the first step if the doctors are optimistic about it. Besides, the rumours about Frenkie needing surgery have just appeared. Doubt there's much to it.

Truth.

But tbf to the club, that was Dr. Cugat who was one of the best knee surgeons in the entirety of Europe, and was affiliated with the club and Spain since 1992. Pep used to take Bayern and City players to operate under him.

But he was in his 70's and clearly lost his touch, Stegen, Fati and Coutinho all went to repair their knees with other surgeons after failed operation under him. Sad it took the club too long to realize it and for Fati to be a victim of it. But after 30 years of being great, having a year to realize the fall of is to be expected.

Dr.Joan Carles Monllau is now our knee surgeon, he has operated Putellas, Gavi & Bernal.

But yeah, at the end those details won't matter to the players. This isn't 2010 when Barca were able to help players like Messi and Iniesta to overcome their injury worries.

There are more reasons for players to worry.

Wasn't there also a surgeon in Finland many visited? Dembele IIRC. Maybe he wasn't a knee surgeon though.
