21 - Frenkie de Jong

Yea if he's on 19m that's complete bullshit.

He's done zero in his entire career to justify that kind of wage.

Which will lead to fans always judging him harshly, for that kind of money, you expect what his fan boys think he is, a world class midfielder, a leading midfielder in the world.

Not what he actually is, a good to very good squad player.

Another numpty who believed Capology...

Fair pair.

He is far better than likes of Gavi you claim to be the better player.. and would walk into top sides if decides to leave.

Keep mouthing off about how much better Kessie, Gavi.. Casado etc are and being left proven wrong.

Imagine being a Gavi fan boy and thinking he is the better player..

If he gets an annual salary of 19m that would be an increase by 4m a season. Cant see that.

€19m means he remains at the same salary he's getting now, according to https://www.capology.com/player/frenkie-de-jong-35562/
So in return for waiving the money owed, he can keep his salary. I think it's a fair deal for Frenkie. He took his starting XI spot back, shows good performances back to back and his ankle seems to hold.
The math isn't too difficult for Deco as well. 4 years contract with 19m salary is 76m. Can the club get for a 76m complete package (fee+salary) a player at least on Frenkies level? I doubt it. And if Frenkie accepts it, then it'll help with the ffp too, as Barca would lose a good amount of Masa Salarial.

The club obviously can't just trust Casado and Bernal, that wouldn't be professional. Especially because Casado needs to confirm his good season start for now and Bernal had like three games for us.

That doesnt make sense though because if he stays on 19m next season then he WOULD be getting the money owed and then a 4m salary increase for the next 3 years in comparison to current contract.

My guess is that report is wrong and when they are referring to 'current contract' it is without the deferral and around 15m a season and that is what is being offered in thise scenario.

Otherwise he is being paid deferred salary next season and then getting an increase after that.

It is complete contradictions to make out he is being offered 18/19m without getting deferred salary or an increase on previous contract.

While improving as of late I think this is his ceiling and if there are doubts re. renewal we should cut him loose and look for other options or just trust in Masia (Bernal?).

Bernal

You have proven already not to have a clue at what level Bernal plays at.

Bernal is good and promising but he is far off FDJ even what did this season and will need time.

There is no way FDJ leaves and they go with Casado/Bernal as only options.

They wont do that though in terms of Bernal being a settled starter next season. They would bring in another midfielder.

Bernal will need time.

Why would they even bother trying to renew FDJ if thought that of Casado/Bernal?

Like Bernal but I think folk are going over top what to immediately expect from him next season etc.

Pretty much this.

His ceiling is too low for this kind of money.

Casado + bernal is good enough.

Same reason to renew Araujo. While not sure if he would be starter next season better to renew and retain option to keep and sell.

They wont renew and look to sell in summer.

Araujo doesnt even look to be a starter for Flick.

Also much more to lose putting FDJ on a bigger contract if aim is to sell him and he wont go.

That's why they didn't offer him bigger contract

Who?

The contract being discussed would be a bigger contract and for longer.

In a world where Barca need every penny this summer they would be better off selling him this summer if dont think he is better than likes of Casado/Bernal or they are enough.

Makes little sense to then renew him to sell him a few months later and there is little chance he or agent doesnt know if that is the plan.

Didn't you say it's same as he is on now minus deferred part

Yes I am saying bigger contract than Araujo and can include amortized cost in that.

I would guess the contract being offered to FDJ in this scenario is same as previous one at around 15m otherwise it is an increase.

What happens if he refuses to leave and the plan backfires?

Better off trying to sell this summer if that is the plan.
