21 - Frenkie de Jong

15m for what? Has no place in the first 11 and it's not looking good for him.
We need experienced backup players, I don't think we can refill with a Casado, Pedri or Gavi every season from Masia - we're incredibly blessed with this generation now. If Frenkie leaves for free we'll lose more than 30M - better have him sign a new 4 year contract worth 15M a year... Today we saw he can be very good, 1-2 injuries on key players in midfield and we're fucked. Also, nobody knows how Bernal will turn out - he might be a let down.

But that would mean Frenkie has to get in touch with reality a little. Rotation player for Barca on 15ish million is not that bad, he has to understand he isn't Xavi or Kroos...

Very long road ahead indeed, let's see him in CL. This game got comfy for us very fast. Easy to look good in these situations.

3 Masia terriers pressing in front of him made it more comfortable and Betis is not good atm. and they rotated heavily.

Wouldn't trust him AT ALL against Getafe at DM.

Like Lewandowski, looks out of tune with the rest of the team. Doesn't mean he is not a good player.
Salary is another conversation.

Frenkie can be a good player but it requires him to play a lot. He looked pretty decent against Betis but Flick will just need to either cut him free in the summer or commit to Frenkie. I think it's an easy choice to cut him loose

I've never been a FdJ fan. I was curious if Flick could get him to improve. From what I saw today, he has quite a bit.

His movement is much better, finding spaces to assist his teammates.
His back-to-goal vision has improved, always scanning over his shoulders.
He isn't dwelling on the ball, distributes far more quickly.

I saw only one poor piece of play where he had positioned himself excellently to receive the ball. but failed to turn and dribble fast enough to evade his markers (see photo). He had the potential for a huge jump on them but hadn't decided to turn until after he received the ball.

One excellent over-the-top assist that was disallowed.

Huge improvement, but the test will come against tougher opponents.

He can be good but we have so much quality in midfield these days it's gonna be hard to get minutes even if he plays well. I have no doubt he can be a very useful player at many top clubs but he has to leave for his own sake if he values his career more than his wage, we'll see.

He is not a good player he is the same trash as Busquets. You need to run like crazy as a DM or to have a premium team that makes it very easy.
