21 - Frenkie de Jong

Lol who said that?.

Sounds a lot like when a certain manager picked a teenager and a old man, over another player in his prime and said players fans went crazy.

Xavi picked FDJ as first choice for vast majority of time and the season he started Gavi there FDJ won place back quickly.

Clearly first choice.

Gavi only became a regular when everyone was fit for any prolonged period of time once formation changed.

That was back when usual folk claimed no one played two deeper mids anymore and Xavi never would.. he did.. and won the league.

Good times.

This is what I have been saying..

BREAKING: Frenkie de Jong and his agents do not want a salary cut to renew nor will they allow Barça to sell him for a big fee in the summer. They believe Jong's ideal value in the summer has to be around €12m, as he has one year left on his contract. This way, he can negotiate a higher salary with a new club. —

Haha no.. the club would hate to sell him for that.

FDJ and agent are saying they will accept enough to cover the amortized cost so club dont make a loss on him being freed in that scenario.

Good move and gives them more freedom.

They will "accept" to leave the club in the summer or face being unregistered for 2025/2026 season.

Yet to play a full match against serious opposition without blundering and here we are talking as he's world class.

Funny

Cant 'unregister players' and FDJ and his agent know the club would never opt for that ahead of selling him for 12m to get rid of salary.

Makes no sense whether think he is terrible or a top player is irrelevant at that point really.

Aye Betis, Benfica, Real and Valencia all 'unserious' clubs compared to what Barc have been dropping points to recently.

Yay 90mins vs. Betis only.
Start Frenkie as DM against better side and he's eaten alive. Can't play Pedri role as he is vastly inferior.

Can be a sub player or start when we face teams where we're on the ball 80% of time.

Yay was and off near end when battered Valencia.

Had to come on for Casado who was blundering for fun v Benfica to help win the game.

Yay.

Casado has been 'eaten alive' a few times recently.. bullied more than once v Getafe and hooked.. Lost ball multple times in bad positions v Benfica and FDJ came on to improve team. Lets see from here.

Part ways at end of season for 12m if needs be. FDJ will be just fine either way.

I doubt Frenkie can dictate his value and force the club to only that low offer. He himself has things to lose as one big injury, and he is officially an injury prone 29 years old player when he hits free agency. It isn't without risk for him.

We aren't getting big money for him, but if the club negotiate 20-25M deal with another club, and it won't affect his salary that much.

Most likely, it will be his agent reaching financial agreement with another club, and we will have to negotiate a deal with them that won't affect his salary.

Injury when? In training? That could happen now anyway or in May etc. Would make little difference.

Players run down their contracts all the time for leverage.

They wont want club making money and will probably agree to give up last part of 'deferred' salary also in that scenario.

His agent would look to go to clubs and sell what they can give FDJ given a low fee.

Injury between now and summer 2026.
Players run their contracts for leverage, but many found it wasn't the best move. Rabiot, DDG are prime examples. Injury is always a risk, but when you miss 8 months due to injury, getting another one is a value killer. That is a risk he has to take if he leaves as free agent.

And sometimes clubs prefer to give transfer fees rather than pure salary, because a new high earner can cause trouble in renewing your own.

Frenkie can simply get what he wants, and let the club of his choice negotiate with us, rather than acting like a middle man for them.

If he stays at Barca and they play him?

The scenario being discussed here is Barca not willing to keep him past next summer.

As said players do it all the time and more and more recently let contract run down to take that risk for better opportunities.

Last summer, this summer and next is full of them.

Not how it works.. the agent would go to clubs with how much Barca willing to sell for and if low use that as leverage for more opportunities and better deals.

Even if scenario is the salary stays the same.. the options of clubs likely increases and also there will be part of them simply not wanting Barca to profit to any great deal after how they have behaved.

Saying "you can't negotiate my sale over 12M" isn't how it work either and absolutely something he can't control.
