21 - Frenkie de Jong

Yeah it was never gonna happen like Birdy said and it shouldn't anyway, FDJ did nothing wrong (he did us no favors either). They tried that with Dembele but he was too important and it didn't work.

Now that FDJ really doesn't have a place in the starting 11 it could happen naturally. He's gonna be on the bench a lot, maybe he accepts to leave in the summer because of that but I think he'll leave for free in 2026. Nobody will offer him anything close to the wage he gets here, he can be a rotational player until then if that means long term wealth for him and his family. His ankle doesn't look good, it could be his last chance to get that kind of money.

Could have happened with Dembele if Laporta was not such a beta to listen to an idiot like Xavi, and had listened to Allemany instead.
Allemany wanted to go all the way with the right strategy, Allemany had seen it all and knew where Moussa Sissoko would divert the negotiations.

and what happened in the end?
Dembele gave us very good games on the pitch for 1.5 more years, and then left without the club getting even a fraction of his real value in return

In the counterfactual scenario where Dembele sits in the stands for 6 months he either signs Barca extension in 2022 ON OUR TERMS (without a release clause) and not on his terms (that he actually signed in 2022) or he leaves for NO big club. As no big club wanted him in the summer of 2022 including PSG. PSG was alerted to his case 1 year later due to this low release clause and Messi/Neymar leaving.

So, who won in the end? The club or Moussa?
Think for yourself

PS: If Laporta/Deco opt again for a soft stance on De Fraud come summer, they will be making the SAME mistake AGAIN.
And no wise man makes the same mistake twice...

I would keep him simply because we need midfielders. We have some talent but it's all a bit patchy. Gavi is still a question mark for me. Pedri is good only under certain conditions + can rarely be counted on for 90 mins. Olmo is constantly injured. Fermin is fine as a sub but no more, same with Torre. Bernal is talented, but looks limited physically + don't know how he'll look post-cruciate.

As far as well-rounded, reliable midfielders we only one at the minute: Casado. If Frenkie remains injury free and gets back to ok form, we have another.

Casado Pedri Gavi are ALL ahead of him for the deep positions.
Next season Bernal will be back, and he will ALSO be ahead of him for these positions

There is simply no room for such an underperformer right now

Literally everybody from that Ajax CL semi final side turned out to be a fraud 😭

ETH
FDJ
MDL
DVDB
Ziyech
(plus Nerez)

Or rather ETH made all of them look better than they really were

That's a common attribute of all great coaches

The sad thing is that out of them ALL, De Fraud looked like the MOST promising
What a FAILED signing he has been

Lot of hate for a player that genuinely always wanted to play for us. Yes he also signed a very good contract for him, anyone here willing to turn down extra money?

Now it's looking like his career could potentially be over in terms of being able to put 100% in. Has been key in winning some trophies, sure he's not been key in winning a UCL, but then not even prime MSN won another UCL after 2015.

Been a scapgoat for years due to board fucking the club, when in reality sparing the money spent on Frenkie would have done little for our squad.

Again the apologist narrative of the poor little Frenkie who just wants to play for Barca, huh?

No mate, he has shown TIME and TIME again that he wants to have his cake and eat it too.
He doesn't want to reduce wages
He doesn't want to leave
He wants to play
He is underperforming horribly on the pitch

Add to all that that he opted to not have a surgery and now his ankle is permanently damaged

He is 100% responsible for becoming a scapegoat mate
Open your eyes and see it...

Not saying poor little Frenkie though, he has been used as a scapegoat as to why we can't do anything financially by the board and they are pathetic for doing that. Don't need to be a fan or apologist to admit that. He wants to play for Barcelona and earn shit loads of money, that's what he's done. Never been exceptional for us but has been good when fit. Time for him to move on though because good doesn't cut it.

He has been simply below par when fit, not 'good'

And NO, he can't play for Barcelona and earn shit loads.
He can't have his cake and eat it too
Simple stuff

And until now he did exactly that without any problem and it's nothing wrong with that. I also don't want my employer reduces my wage and I want to continue my job. Do I want to have my cake and eat it too?

Now finally situation changed because of the rise of other midfielders but even now he's just one injury away from starting again.

I want him to leave but I also wouldn't throw away money that's promised to me. It's not his fault that criminal Bartomeu gave him this wage and Laporta loves his pal who put us in this situation. He can thank him next time he's hugging those criminal and inviting them to clubs events and not bitch at Frenkie. The fault is totally on Laporta's pal Bartomeu.

You're welcome
some weird a$$ position near right sideline but goal and assist.

Flick must really rate him as looking to give minutes whenever can.
