23 - Jules Kounde

Too short ? lol

You know Carlos Puyol was the same size as Kounde right (1,78m) ? And Fabio Cannavaro was 1,75m...

Kounde has very good aerial duel stats... I'd say size doesn't seem to hinder him that much.

You do know that Puyol and Cannavaro are all time greats. They are the exception to the rule. Also the game has moved on, van Dijk profile is the modern CB. Without height and pace you will never become an elite CB.

Height is important, but not critical for being good in the air, some just "got it", others don't.

Ideal CB/RB hybrid that Xavi currently uses Araujo for. Araujo is not a good RB at all and against strong opposition would be a liability there. Only issue is, Araujo is the RCB right? So he'd have to shift over and be even less comfortable on the ball than he already is, that or Kounde goes over to that side where he's probably not as good. Not sure how much it actually affects a CB being on one side or the other, if it's significant then no point going after him.

True. Ramos was very good and only 184cm. Not super tall by any means.

What do you mean 'only', it's average height. Cristiano same and is very good in the air.

Some people like Catta too obsessed by height. Most of the time it's not height but position and hops that matter far more
Varane is 191 and famously shit on offensive set pieces

If you had Varane instead of Alaba, you would have never conceded the Araujo goal from the CK.

My point was you don't need to be 190cm to be good in headers.

The best headers of the ball are around 5' 11 to 6' 2. That height is optimum because your tall but your height doesn't hinder your swiftness in manipulating your leap and contact with the ball.

Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Cavani, Falcao, Ramos, etc get many headed goals because of that.

Also another very important thing people miss out is winning duels in the middle of the park is very different to being an aerial goal threat.

Tall players win aerial duels in the middle of the pitch but can't manipulate their bodies well enough to score headers consistently when the ball doesn't have much air time.

These people need lobbed up balls so they can use their height to their advantage.

Also, Football purists ignore how important it is for strikers and defenders to be great in the air. You can't always play with ball to your feet. I don't consider a striker/CB complete if he's not dominant in the air. Period.
