23 - Jules Kounde

Kounde has brain farts all the time and always been a weakness left 1v1 v pacey wide players.

It is nothing new.

Can make a world class pass on minute then a dumb decision to try something too elaborate and lose the ball next.

Can think Kounde has weaknesses and there is no back up to him also.

For me he is very hot and cold.

Lets in too many balls from his side when not helped with doubling up and has a lot of brain farts. While next minute can pick make a great challenge or a great pass forward.

Over time would think it will evolve to Yamal getting more freedom centrally and more from RB going forward and on other side more options for width from LW.

Could be a bit away yet though.

He played Dortmund onside in first when yds out of position and then it looked like he lost his man for the 3-1 goal also.

Would put him as a 7 out of 10 overall most weeks.. and not because consistently that but because he ranges from a 5/6 to 9/10 one moment to the next.

Sorry bro, "brilliannt" by meaning, carries more weight than that and all he has offered so far.

Except of course, you have a very low bar for such an adjective.
La Liga title in his first season, now likely another in his third and possibly a CL trophy as well. Some would call that brilliant

He also played a big role in our only goal vs Dortmund away with that good through ball to Fermin in space. Was probably the best in the backline even though I agree he played a poor match.

Man probably needs some rest, not easy to play almost every possible match because the squad doesn't have anyone that is close to him in quality for the RB spot.

Also seems to be at his best in big games. Gittens or who played LW for Dortmund in the home game was almost completely owned by Kounde on the night.

Same thing for Atletico in the Copa in the 1-0 win. At his best, very difficult defender to beat.

Thats what I mean.. he can make a pass like that then give ball away badly one minute to next.

Was poor defensively. Would have had Cubarsi as better overall as didnt make such big errors.

They all probably need rest but Kounde is more or less similar throughour the season in what does well and poorly.
