24 - Eric García

Trust him over Arujo any day off the week.
I disagree. Araujo is overall the much better defender, simply because of his body. Garcia is neither tall, nor robust at least like Puyol was. He will always have physical disadvantages against tall and robust attackers, while Araujo is a physical beast and fast at the same time. I don't remember when Araujo ever loses a duel or a high ball.
I agree that Garcia uses his body to the maximum and is a decent defender, but he can't overcome these things.
And it's not like Garcia doesn't do mistakes. Stupid red card against Monaco which cost us the game. Even if Araujo does more mistakes than Garcia, as an overall package Araujo is clearly a few level above Garcia.
And last but not least, Garcia defends in duels way harder, uses often his hands to hold his opponent because of said physical disadvantages, which also risks penalties.

Araujo can leap but his timing is not all that great. While Garcia reads ball better just not as physical to win it in air.

Araujo never losing a header? Fairly sure he lost a header to Real in the game he was sent off in Supercopa last season and Garcia scores more goals also as reads ball into opposition box better so far. Araujo definitely more powerful in air but again has lapse moments to read game quick enough to use his power as much as could. He should be physically dominating both boxes more than he does.

Neither as it stands will be a starter and then it comes down to why keep Araujo when get a fee, higher wages while Eric if happy to stay is on lower wages and proven to be reliable in and out of the team.

Great to have him as backup and rotation option. Always gives his all and has the technical ability and passing for our style.

Hope we keep him.

Some dodgy moments in first half but good second half.

Very good back up to have particularly in a system so built on CBs having ability on ball and starting off breaks/attacks when have the chance.
