24 - Thomas Vermaelen

The worst transfer I've seen is Jonathan Woodgate to Real Madrid. Injured for the entirety of the first season, then scores an own goal and gets a red card on his debut in the second season  Plays a few games and gets injured again and gets sent out on loan to Middlesbrough. 17 million euros or so for 9 apps.

Can't beat that.

LOL! Also, when we talk about Real, Gravesen was a funny transfer - like an elephant in a china shop...

Gravesen

Was a bulldozer that guy.

Might not have had a successful career in Madrid, but he sure as hell did so with his investments. A couple of years back it was reported that he was good for 100m euros.

What about Julien Faubert? Greatest loan deal of all time imo.

I get the feeling Arsene Wenger keeps a copy of the invoice of Vermaelen's transfer in his wallet for whenever he's having a bad day. He probably needs to just take a cheeky peak at how much we shelled out for him to turn any frown upside down....

Having said that, I want him to recover soon. Not that it would make any difference to our team though as Bartra is a lot better than him and even he barely gets a game under Lucho.

The board should have thrown however much we paid for him on top of what we offered for Marquinhos, who is phenomenal.
