Tbf a club has to have lots of money and/or immense pull to be able to keep happy two equally good GKs. And even then it's not a long therm option as eventually one of them will decide that there's no point in wasting his career sitting on the bench when he could start for lots of other clubs. To have a decent deputy you would always have to change them after 1-2 seasons and that requires some money plus some scouting/planning.

If czsezny arrives we have to reconsider our opinion on Lewadowski. Might have had a big hand in revitalizing the club

No team has 2 comparable keepers. The closest is Ortega and Ederson, but in general, one is clearly better than the other. The problem is Pena is just not good enough even for back-up role.

Lumin has been pretty darn clutch for Real as well. Don’t think he ever blundered. At most 1 game.

I think PSG has 2 comparable ones. Donnarumma and Airola is pretty good.

edit: Owh he’s gone

Yeah, but Madrid has a 10 keeper and a 6-7 keeper. Even if Lunin is good, Courtois is elite, the gape is consistent.

Barca has a 6 keeper and a 4 keeper. The difference is still still clear, albeit at a much lower level than Madrid's duo.

Okay, but then question is do you really need comparable keepers? Aim should be to have both really good ones.

There will always be cases like that - Courtois and Navas, Stegen and Bravo, Navas and Donnarumma etc

But those were big/rich clubs that could afford to try it at least and players gave it a go as it meant either playing at elite level or getting lots of money.

All short term situations. Bound to break apart at some point.

But even if the club is willing to invest seriously, rarely happens if they try to improve the backup. Usually comes as a result of a club looking for a starter and the current keeper taking the no2 position. Whatever the interim situation.

Barca invested a lot of money in both Cillessen and Neto. I believe both are in the top 10-15 biggest GK transfers of all time. But didn't work out as expected.

Both fairly reliable backups, one has to be fair.

No top team should have to equal keepers at their prime sharing game time

But it's perfectly fine to have an experienced keeper gradually getting out the door and a young upcoming keeper gradually developing to share game-time.
We did with with Stegen and Bravo for two years, we can do it again and phase out Stegen

Whole argument is moot. Steven is not a good goalkeeper for a club of Barca stature and now he had 2 big injuries as well. Also, Pena is not good for any club in La Liga.
We are way way behind to be entertaining these unlikely problems

I still don't see why he would come, unless we offer him an immense salary. And our financial condition won't permit that.

It looks like the same saga as the Nico one. It's the journos smoking each other's ass.
