I think they lowered the release clause to a more reachable sum. But i hope they didnt give him star high salary.
I would be okay with a little bit of payrise and around 150-200M rc.

If you have a good relationship with the player, then renewing long term, reasonable wage bump and accessible release clause is best for everyone.

City just paid 40m+bonuses for a guy with 12 games or so or Ligue 1 football.

So getting Araujo for 60m if he can go injury free for a season or more is very modest.

I am still a bit doubtful of his abilities and overall game IQ. He's fast and physical, but he lacks the brains of Inigo which is super important when you're a player at this club (even more so as a CB). Wouldn't be surprised if he makes some very boneheaded mistake in a CL QF or SF again.

Question is if he is ok being a perma backup to Inigo and Cubarsi when they're 100 % fit.

Araujo is single handedly going to lose Barca games unless he is playing against teams that actually attack. His passing is atrocious and he knows it which is worse. Because he won't even try the pass that is needed
