Where are the clauses based on number of matches? We would have much easier time getting rid some of the leeches if we had those.
Clauses based on merit.

The release clauses from 29 onwards are low IMO given his value

But I assume he would want a new contract by then
He would have to have a significant improvement in availability and ability for us to regret getting 55m for him at 29. It's a lot of money for a CB. Varane cost United 40m at 28 for example.

On the ball and positionally he still leaves a lot to be desired.

Him at RCB means Cubarsi moves.. who is good enough to play LCB but still even better and more options from RCB.

Cubarsi at RCB and the way can open game up with Yamal on that side is not an easy thing to lose.

Think this contract is more about not trying to lose face and have more negative criticism over players leaving etc.

Can already see teams leaving him on ball and trying to set traps in way they have done for years.

Still brings things and do like him but not sure he will last all that long and quite quickly get pissed off if not a starter.

Well obviously the contract is set up so that he can leave this summer and next season.

They only kept him because of Inigo's injury. Flick doesn't need a bad passer.

I think they gave him a 3million pay rise so he doesn't push for a transfer now, but he will leave in the summer because Flick doesn't need him.

If https://www.capology.com is to be believed his salary has risen from 7 million euros gross to 10 million euros gross.

But this information is grayed out, so it is not 100% accurate.

FAIR, when Inigo gets 10m gross and Kounde gets 13m gross.

Once, everyone here will realize something very simple: you can't overpay EVEN a single player, without completely destroying your wage structure. Because others will demand more the next moment

Varane, THOUGH, looked past it at 28 for various reasons: injuries and could not cope with aspects of the game.

If Araujo is like Varane at 29, then yes the RC is more than fine.
However, if Araujo is a beast like VVD at 29, it'a steal for any team to get him for 55m, let alone get him for 40m at 30

VVDs organisation, positioning and ability on the ball is something Araujo cant learn now.

If anything it is more likely he looks worse as physically starts to decline as gets to that age.

With all due respect, don't start.

Kunde is getting a +- fair wage. Again, let's put an anomalous Liverpool out of brackets.
How much does Militao get? How much does Saliba get? How much does Rüdiger get? They get more than Kunde.

Why should Kunde get less than them? What the hell? Kunde isn't playing in his home position, yet his performances are at a pretty high level. Yes, he's not a 100% elite right-back, but he's good.

I'd like to see him in the CB position, I'm sure he'd be the best in that position but is forced to play on the right.

Inigo came in as a free agent. I do not welcome the practice when free agents are given a bonus, but there is such a practice in football.

Seriously? Get a grip mate...
Militao and Saliba did get MUCH less in their 1st contracts at Real and Arsenal, despite being both >>> Kounde in all facets of the game

Militao was getting 7.2 m Gross for his first 4 seasons at Madrid before renewing.
Saliba was getting 2.4 m Gross in his first 3 seasons at Arsenal before renewing.
(Guess what? Saliba is STILL costing his team LESS than Kounde in Gross/season. 11.4m gross in EUR)

As for Rudiger, you can't compare someone coming at 29 to Madrid, looking for his last good contract, with someone who gets his 1st contract for a top club at the age of fukn' 23. And even so, the difference is only 1m gross more for Rudiger.

How much you think a player who gets this kind of undeserved fat contract at 23 will ask for a renewal? Do you tihnk he will wanna reduce some salary  ?

PS: Yes, Kounde shall be much better at CB than RB, still worse than both Saliba and Militao.
If he is not good enough as CB to be played there ahead of all of Araujo, Cubarsi, Christensen, Inigo, then sorry he should not complain for playing RB. Nor he should get more money for that. Like, what the heck are you even talking about?
