The Club captain was back in training for the first time since his knee operation in May, working apart from the rest of the group at the Ciutat Esportiva this Monday morning
This Morning’s training was the penultimate session before the squad fly out to Germany on Tuesday to play Hamburg at 18.00 in their first pre-season friendly
Carles Puyol was back in training on schedule this morning, returning after a two month layoff following his knee operation in May . The captain trained apart from the rest of the squad in the group’s penultimate session before they fly out to Germany on Tuesday for their first pre-season friendly against Hamburg.
Puyol noticed a pain in his knee following the game against Espanyol on May 5th and after tests, he decided to undergo an arthroscopy a week later, which would rule him out for six weeks, meaning he missed Spain’s Euro 2012 campaign, but would be fit for the start of the new season.
Further tests next Monday
Puyol will undergo further medical tests next Monday, June 30th, to confirm his fitness to return to full training – the same day that the team’s Spanish internationals resume training.
13 Barça B players
Kiko Femenía missed out on the last few training sessions following a muscle strain, but he was back with the group this Monday morning to make it 13 B team players in the squad, with the eight who trained last week -Oier, Sergi Gómez, Planas, Sergi Roberto, Ilie, Rafinha, Lobato and Femenía- joined by Patric, Deulofeu, Espinosa, Balliu and Joan Àngel Román.
Gerard Deulofeu rejoined the squad after a well earned rest following his key role in the Spanish Under 19s recent European Championship victory.
The squad will return to train this evening at 19.00.
