Puyol will miss Saturday's game against Sevilla, but will get the green light ahead of the CL game against Ajax next week. #ucl [sport]

It's just Sport, but it keeps the mind busy. Somehow this feels sooner than expected. But it is mid-September, after all.

He won't be match fit when he gets the green light either. It'll still take some more time.

Martino: "Puyol's return means we have the centre back we all wanted, I'm very happy about it. The captain is back."

Martino: "Puyol is at the end of his recovery, he could be back in full training ahead of next week's game against Real Sociedad."

The Barça captain is well on the road to recovery and was able to join the squad for some of today's session
Dani Alves and Sergio Busquets also joined the rest of the available players

Carles Puyol was able to join the rest of the squad for the final section of this morning’s training session. Although he worked in isolation for the first part of the workout, it looks like the captain will be back to full fitness very shortly.

Everyone available

As the team prepares for Saturday’s clash with Sevilla at 20.00 in the Camp Nou, Gerardo Martino had all of his available players with him today. Those included Dani Alves and Sergio Busquets, who have only joined their colleagues for certain parts of recent sessions, but today were able to take part in all of the exercises as normal. The first team was also joined today by youth player Juan Antonio Ros.
The only remaining meeting before taking on Sevilla will be on Saturday morning in the Camp Nou, an important session because it will be the first chance for the players to try out the recently returfed pitch.

Great news. I hope he can be healthy all season long. Or even better, no injuries until he retires.

I can't help feel a bit pessimistic on Puyol's outlook as he hasn't been able to stay healthy for any sustainable period of time to help us near as much as the team needs, IMO...If he can, it'd be like signing a world class CB as Martino says...But I have a hard time feeling that he's the answer everyone has been waiting for...We'll see, I hope I'm wrong because his impact is immeasurable...even if it's short term

Either way, it's a major boost to get a player of his caliber back into the playing squad...I love your ava, Flavia...it's my favorite moment in that vid

Everyone is cautiously excited to have the captain back! It will be interesting to see him rotate with Pique and Masch that's for sure and if Puyol gets his old form back who does he displace Pique or the coaches bud Masch?

He won't get his old form back, you can only hope for good performances. Puyol is Puyol but with so many injuries someone can't be consistent, so im not from the ones that are tottaly excited because he will come back thinking that we will improve significally... And not long until he gets injured again.

Can't believe Tata said they'll bring a CB in the winter. Why not in the summer that past ?
