He's had a terrific season, no wonder why people rate him highly.

Certainly not worth 30 million, that's absurd... But I would gladly pay 10 million for him, he's done well in La Liga and is quite young which I only see as beneficial to our club...

He has much better aerial ability than Pique and the only person in our squad with better heading than him is Puyol, and don't forget that he's only 21 so he's likely going to get even better at it.
He's overrated? If anything he's pretty damn underrated. Rarely gets recognition for being one of the best defenders in la liga this season.
I don't think he's worth 30 million but I'm almost certain that he would not cost that much after negotiations. 20 million is definitely worth it and he's by FAR better than any defender in our squad now and would be a much better fit than some that we've been linked with (Hummels, Mathieu, Vermaelan, Luiz)

I have watched him plenty and think at 30m he is vastly over rated.
He is decent in the air for his height nothing more than that.
Would not pay anymore than 10/12m for him and even then it would be a punt that he could develop.

Plenty and by the way he is not as good as Pique, Puyol or Mascherano. Not even close.

"Plenty" & then you don't name any, that's helpful... who? Thiago Silva doesn't count as most already agree he is top class & the only other one besides him I would rather have than Martinez is Marquinhos.

You dont pay 30m for a player as you dont think there are alternatives.
He would be the fourth best center half in the squad.
I dont even think he was the best defender at Sociedad last season, maybe even third.

I too don't believe he is worth 30m. But if there was a choice between David Luiz for 25m and Iñigo Martínez @ 30m, i'd choose Iñigo, all day long.
He may not be very tall (under 6 feet) I believe, but at least he attacks the ball in the air (a la Puyol) , which can't always be said for Pique, Masch, Busi etc.

His defending has been way better than any of our defenders, based on this season. He has the physical presence and aerial dominance which we really lack. Which options do you see as a better fit?
