Needing to improve close control in tight spaces is not the same as being sloppy. Sloppy players are like Gomes or Suarez, who often lose the ball because of poor passing, decision making, dribbling, shooting etc, none of which describe Alena.
Judging by your need to drop an F bomb I'm pretty sure you know damn well I'm talking specifically about you. Saying Alena is sloppy is a bullshit comment on the level of BBZ and Neymar.
To some extent being the key phrase here. Going from "He's great and has huge potential" to belittling him to some Gumbau level midfielder who's sloppy in possession and is just another "Could of/should of" is a complete 180. Granted I don't know what this particular individual's opinion of Alena was prior to this summer but I wouldn't be surprised if we see all the usual anti Masia suspects join him on this sudden opinion flip that occurs either before Alena has even played pre-season with us, or after he's had his first subpar performance.
Right, I'm going to try to be as civil and mature as I possible can here, and guide you slooowly through my original post. Take my hand, pal, and let me lead you...
I don't have as high hopes for him tbh. Clearly he's super talented, but he also seems way too wasteful and sloppy in possession for him to ever be an integral cog in our midfield.
Young of course with plenty time and room for improvement, so here's hoping. I won't be surprised, though, if he ends up another could've/should've been from La Masia.
Right, let's get started.
First of all, let's take a look at the opening sentence, with the keyword
as being our main focus. I wrote
as because it was directed to the poster just above me, who expects the player in question to bench just about every single midfielder we currently have - obviously with a few select omissions - within a fairly short time. That was what prompted my post that entangled your poor panties so direly. The kid needs time, and I don't thing he's ready to bench anyone in the near future, but he will hopefully get there in due time.
Phew, so far so good...
Alright, get a firm grip on your hat and other lose belongings, because this is where it gets real wild and crazy!
Clearly he's super talented...
Whoa, wait a minute! Did I just claim he's super talented? Why, yes I believe I did. So, this confuses me, why the everliving fuck would you suddenly rant about me comparing him to the likes of Gumbau who clear as day wasn't God damn super talented?! Perhaps a slight misapprehension on your side, trying to blow things way, way out of proportion?
Lets carry on... Oh, and so so sorry for that
f-bomb, that was truly naughty.
...but he also seems way too wasteful and sloppy in possession for him to ever be an integral cog in our midfield.
This is what really set you off, right? Well, buddy, young players tend to have shortcomings, and this, I believe, is a fairly obvious shortcoming of Alena. You don't see it the same way? No problem, I guess we see players differently. Does is mean that I don't rate the kid one bit and roots for him to flop (just like you have a nasty habit of doing with a good portion of our players who doesn't look too hot)? No, not at all. It actually leads us rather gracefully, if I may say so, to the next quote from my post:
Young of course with plenty time and room for improvement, so here's hoping.
Young players tend to develop and eventually get better by ironing out their mistakes and inherent weaknesses, and some don't - players like Deulofeu and Samper come to mind. I really hope Alena doesn't end up like those two and actually manages to build upon his game and irons out those flaws, that I believe he has. It is dead certain that he will? No, I'm afraid not. A healthy skepticism when it comes to our youngsters is a good thing, I believe, and it doesn't necessarily equate to black and white hate or love, that you are so fond of dabbling in.
Right, last quote that you seem to have singled out in your rant:
I won't be surprised, though, if he ends up another could've/should've been from La Masia.
...just like every La Masia talent, really.
It's not as bad as you will have us believe, and it no agenda to belittle (what the fuck, pal
) our talents. It's just a healthy dose of realism and pragmatism that a long, long line of talents has thought us throughout the history of the club and La Masia.
Right, here's the tl;dr version (which coincidentally reminds me a fair bunch of my original post:
I rate the kid a lot, but think he has some shortcomings that he can hopefully work out if he's to become an important Barça player.
Hopefully this will help you, and if not, feel free to leave a comment.
