6 - Gavi

What is Gavis best position in this Barca team?

I don't know, but he's not a starter either way since he cannot do what Pedri and Casado can do, nor what Bernal has the potential to do when he is back.

I suppose backup CAM of sorts depending on the opposition/situation? I do believe he would do better with a striker that makes runs in behind to free up some space for him tbf.

Don't really worry much about Gavi. Put him wherever depending on who is available, the opponent and situation/tactics.

Exactly there is not a position he suits.

Gavi behind a striker that runs in behind? He is about the 6th midfielder in team most likely to find that pass.

Create space for what? He gets ball in space and is to slow to drive with it and not got a strike on him either.

In Flick's team he doesn't have a position to play. Too limited as an AM and for the double pivot we have Pedri with Casado/Frenkie, next year Bernal probably. He is another body for rotation but when all players are available he'll warm the bench.

This. If he wants to play pivot position more regularily, he should improve his positional discipline, as I said many times before.

He is limited on ball for playing deeper and poor positionally.

His best role would be a Gattuso type terrier but there is no way Barca play that beside a DM and he is nowhere near the quality on ball of Pedri/FDJ etc in that role.

Doubt he'll ever be that type of a player. He plays a lot on instinct which is why he runs around out of posiiton and sometimes does crazy stuff like diving head first in a tackle.

Frenkie would get a ton more goals and assists from AM than Gavi would but not really positon suited for either.
True, but I think it's worth a try, since it would give us quite a bit of balance IMO. Casado needs to be in one of the pivot positions. Especially if Eric "Oh Shit!" Garcia and Ronald "Ummmmmmm? *raises hand*" Araujo are the CB's. If Pedri doesn't play, play FDJ there. If Pedri is playing plop FDJ at AM.

Gavi's "headless" running provided us many goals and opportunities. And I'm not even talking about his press or balls won that directly contribute to our transition and attack.

What I mean is he often moves out of position to draw out holding midfielders to create space. Well proven in Super Cup Clasico and other occasions. Can be easily re-visited on various YouTube or blogs Clasico analysis.

I mean if you want to talk about 'off the ball'' as only way to ignore how little he does on it feel free.

Scraping the barrel for why he should play if that is the case.

We are reaching the stage of Andre Gomes 'decoy runs'.

You know I'm right so keep backing into your last point of Frankie being monster on the ball.

Andre Gomes is actually the most similar player to Frenkie, thanx. Both parade horses who can't defend, don't have the brains to create and control nor pace or dribbling to be a danger in attacking positions.

There has never in his history of FC Barcelona been a more over priced and over paid headless chicken than Player X.

His faces know it well, so they try to place it on every player.

If you can get wirtz and as a result have to sell olmo, fermin or even gavi...you would have to seriously consider it.

Wirtz is probably the best 10 in the world atm.

He's young so no rush plus raphina is playing well anyway. But in a year or so, getting one of Wirtz or Musiala should be priority over Nico/Leao.
