He was much better with the ball in the last few months of Koemans reign and the early Xavi years.

Crazy how much he's lost the plot.

Had a few poorer matches but I am positive about his future here. When he's here it's the Davids effect. Those who followed Barca in 2003 will remember.

He is so slow and is aware of it so thinks he has to hit players early or will never catch them.

Has left Barca exposed on break more than once and probably one of reasons dont think coaches to day have fancied him in deeper role let alone fact is more limited on ball currently than others to play there.

As been said so many times he just isnt dynamic or technical enough to be a top AM and most likely needs to try and learn to play deeper and get some pause and improve on ball.

Likes of Xavi possibly indulged him too much and coaches seem to be trying to find a role for his pressing and he hasnt been developed much on the ball or off it positionally at all.

Yesterday he just looked too slow, passing was off and was losing ball too easily all while preoccupied with crashing into Sevilla players.

Not been a fan of his performances for long enough but still would expect him to be better than this on ball and must come.

Think now that we're actually playing top football and looking like we can compete against anyone, it's become apparent Gavi is just plain average in a lot of ways. He was a useful guy to have around when there were lower expectations and the guy he was fighting with for a position was either injured or Kessie.

Struggle to see how he's going to develop as a player, he's never going to be a tempo controller, he's not a ball carrier, his passing doesn't cut through the lines, he doesn't have a decent shot on him, his positional awareness is severely lacking.

It's like he needs a reset and a clear path laid out for what he's going to be at Barca. Love that he'll stick his head where others wouldn't put their boot, his passion for the club is undeniable, and that is something that can be harnessed. Can't be a passion merchant though.

He needs a lot of personal coaching and some time on the bench before he can start again. Because he hasn't shown anything that he's a better option in the #10 spot than Fermin, Olmo, and Torre like at all.

Torre has only 373 total minutes this season and has contributed a lot more in his small sample size alone than Gavi has.

How quick we are to judge, guys.

Give him time, he is a top player for sure and has been out for almost a year with a terrible knee injury - his body is not geared for the situations his mind puts him in as of yet, but if he can stay healthy he is one of the best midfielders in the world.

Tenacity, grit, good at running between lines, scoring and assisting was all in his toolbox and he recently had a great game in the Super Cup semis with a goal and assist plus MOTM against Bilbao, who are having one of their best seasons in years.

It’s Pedri 2.0 … remember when he got torn to shreds here? And like him Gavi is beyond doubt. Far too talented.

Hes wildly inconsistent this season, but for me thats primarily down to our setup.

Gavi will get his time and chances to work back in the setup although right now Fermin and Olmo need to be ahead of him based on their performances, but make no mistake here, he's not half as talented as Pedri was and is.

That's the simple truth.

Pedri is a Ferrari. Gavi might be an Audi, but he could also be a Skoda for all we know.
