7 - Ferran Torres

Most City fans rate Ferran highly and just read an article on a City fansite opposing his transfer to Barca.

Not that sheiks give a fuck about them.

Fans are fickle, particularly English ones - as soon as a player expresses a desire to leave, they are immediately rubbished. Similar happened with Eric Garcia and is already showing similar with Ferran - should this transfer occur in January, guaranteed he will be deemed not good enough

It's remarkable really that City at its height with Barca architects at the helm still cannot maintain players from going to a struggling Barca. That's something the Sheikhs & their petro money can never buy

When you look at it from Torres point of a view, it's not really surprising he wants to come. First of all, he could play more minutes, he could be face of the franchise instead of one of the players with City. He is coming back home. He probably loves living in Spain compared to UK. Like Frenkie said in a recent podcast, it's almost always great weather. England is terrible in that manner. He will be close to his family and friends, Valencia is close.

Ticks all the boxes, other than having higher salary I guess. Outside if money, this is unbelievable opportunity. This is the best bargaining power Barca has right now: incredible opportunity.

Playing for Barca or Real Madrid also a huge boost when it comes to the Spanish NT. Most importantly there's a World Cup next year and with how you can go from being a starter to 3rd choice under Pep he probably want to take up Barca's offer of being a starter.

True that too. Basically if you play for Barca you play for national team. Enrique seems to rate them very highly.

I think from City perspective too that if it is 50m (+Dest?) that they have a shortlist of 3-5 players who they will believe have the potential to surpass Ferran. Pep will enjoy having the opportunity to develop a new toy in the limitless factory of signings. It is not bad for them too if Ferran is interested in a move back to Spain.

Barcelona would be a building a nice, high potential, competitive localised team (albeit a bit too Valencia 2000-2005) though lacking in foreign stars to glamorise a global fanbase and sponsors, and City would churn out another crack and turn them up a level or two as Pep usually does.

Giving away Dest and only having Dani Alves and Mingueza for the RB position for the rest of the season doesn't sound too good

Don't know if those Cancelo-Semedo swap rumors were ever true, I doubt it, but if City were willing to do that and we said no......what a poor decision in hindsight.

Gotta say I feel like we won't get him and will end up with Bakambu or someone like that instead.

I think only 5-10% of rumors are actually true. So... probably no. Although Juve did trade Cancelo for Danilo .

Could have signed Daka for less than half of what we are going to pay for this guy.

Terrible!

What's remarkable about it.
Spanish player and a young one at that wanting to go back to Spain having won the Prem already is quite unsurprising. Which players did they not maintain from going to a struggling Barca? Aguero was going to be released either way and would have been in Miami already if Laporta didn't lie to him about Messi.

Barca could match the asking price, 70m, by selling some of the unwanted by Xavi players. But I'm not comfortable with the thought we spend all of the money available on a single player.

I'd like to see him here but 70m? Fuck off he is not worth that...

Honestly dont think you're in much position to negotiate down
You just gotta weigh your risks and bank on 1-2 good players, just like Torres
If true that he likes Barca, it definitely helps your predicament
