Since it looks like Coutinho won't be Iniesta's successor, who the hell will? It looks like we don't have any alternatives, and I can't stand going another year with the same midfield as last year. We're going to end up weaker than last year ffs..

This is just trivia. You need to offer something that's worth as or more to Liverpool than Coutinho is. At this stage in the season with no obvious replacement, that should obviously be a lot.

Liverpool wouldn't sell him for 90 even if it was an early June now.

I am not buying those theories that teams are asking a lot ONLY because it is August.

Mbappe is 130, 150, 180M all the time.
Dybala is 120M all summer.
Dembele raised to 100+ lately.
But it isn't as if prices were ok-ish 2 Months ago.

Psg and big spenders have made a mess.
Prices will grow until a certain point, until it is sustainable compared with income.
But in one moment, prices will just continue to grow and the income will stay the same, and clubs (1 by 1) will either bankrupt or get into financial problems.

The same what happened with Seria A in early 2000s.
Clubs can't overspend all the time and pump higher and higher prices (if the income is not growing also for EVERYONE).

Either big teams will stop buying one from another (Barca from Liverpool, Barca from Man Utd/Arsenal etc).
Or as said above, this bubble will burst in 2-3 years.

Personally, I would give 120M for Coutinho in this moment and 100-110M for Dembele.
But if Liverpool/BvB ask for even more, I would say: fck off, we won't buy anyone.

I would buy Di Maria for probably 30-40 (or whatever is his price) and then spend 100M for Griezmann next summer (buyout clause) or find a player who is actually on sale.

This summer it seems that none player is on sale (Verratti, Coutinho, Dembele) or prices are 150M.

Well, no thanks.

As we don't have alternatives, I don't mind if he will be the "2nd most expensive player".

The bubble isn't dependent on Barcelona, I'm pretty sure City, rma or even United and others will continue to pay huge sums for players, while PSG seem unstoppable as they have no limits in spending.

Only a set of well written rules by UEFA/FIFA can change things, but I kinda doubt they'll act to soon.

Isn't Griezmann buyout clause 200m?

I'd go with Lemar tbh. Don't know if Monaco would sell though. Hell i don't think we are even interested aside from some rumors here and there. Which is a shame since he can cover both the LW and Iniesta's spot. I mean, we are managed by one the worst bunch of people in football so having alternatives doesn't register in their pea sized brain. The Verratti saga is proof enough. We are pants down with teams having a go at our backside.

But does Lemar actually fit in Barca? Seems like he has a very direct playing style, which might fit Real, but not us? I have this feeling that we're going to overpay for him, that he's gonna flop and then we will have spent the money we could've used for Coutinho next year. But then again, I don't watch the Ligue 1 nearly enough to judge, it's just my gut feeling.

I haven't seen him enough either, but I get the exact same feeling about him. I actually wrote a post about it a few day ago, asking for views on his play style, but noone was really able to expand on it.

What? Source? I saw Monaco rejecting 50m offer from Arsenal. Nothing more. A 60mil + bonuses would do it imo. I could be wrong but i haven't seen sources indicating Monaco demanding 90m for him.

If they also sell Mbappe, I really don't see how they can convince Lemar or others to stay, the squad was basically ass fucked this summer already like none ever before.

That's why I said that I doubt that they would even let him go since almost half their team has gone already.

Btw, not saying we should definitely be signing him because i didn't watch him that much to have a definitive opinion on him. However, I don't buy that he is too direct and because of that he wouldn't fit us. He is talented, can deliver 50 meter passes between flanks, can dribble in tight spaces and also has an eye for a through pass. All great attributes for an attacking mid. Can also deliver a mean cross into the box as a winger. If he'd come here, I'm sure he could learn how to slow down the tempo. He has that potential. Messi, Busquets, Iniesta could groom him.

Again these are just impressions from about 10 matches Ive seen last year from Monaco. So take it with a grain of salt.

I mean Coutinho is not that "pass, pass, pass" kind of player either. He is also someone who is more direct than Iniesta. Liverpool under Klopp are as direct as they come. But I wouldn't doubt that he can't adapt to a more slow tempo. Btw he's still my first option but as we all can see Liverpool won't budge an inch. What can you do.
