God only knows why we're offering £138m on him. But hey, we have been wasting a lot of money on players the last 4 years or so.

On the same day they have the decisive CL-qualifier. Nice timing to negotiate.

I picture Robert standing in the hallways of the Liverpool offices with people rushing back and forth preparing the match, coughing and raising his hands up trying to getting anyones attention about our newest interest in Coutinho, to no avail.

Don't think you have to take this 4th bid numbers serious. Those rumours started by English journalists. If Liverpool hasn't received it yet, then why would those English journalists know it? It would be more logical if Spanish media was reporting it. Still don't believe Coutinho is coming.

This is very much like your forum colleagues Luftstalag's argument: "Barcelona have won more CL's than Liverpool" "But Liverpool have won 5, same as Barca" "Ah but that doesnt count because they won 4 when it was the EC, not the CL"

Here you are discounting PSG and Man City to make only Madrid, Barca and Bayern the top teams in the world, how very convenient. Liverpool are a top team bud in the most competitive league on the planet, Just look at past success, revenues, match day attendance, worldwide support, et al. Whenever you see market stalls selling counterfeit goods, Liverpool are there alongside Barca, Bayern, Madrid, Chelsea ManU et al.

A stepping stone club we are not and this window and the next few years will bear this out, while Barca are going to have to go through a period of rebuilding which is going to be hard and expensive, I would expect your club to get nowhere near the CL and struggle to win the 2 team league for a while. Does that make Barca a smaller team? No, but by your very own metric, they are now a stepping stone club to bigger things, see the Neymar deal for an example.

Still, bury your head in the sand and pretend its all alright if you wish, it's no odds to me.

It's hard to take you seriously when you say that Man City is on the same CL level as actual big boys Rm, Barca, Bayern.

Also, is EPL competitive because top teams are not too strong or because there are so many great clubs?
The same in Spain. Do we have 2 clubs because others are poor, or because these 2 are out of this world, and would easily turn an EPL into a 1-team or 2-team championship also?

Liverpool in La liga would end 20-30 points behind Barca and Real. Think about it a little.

Coutinho is a 40-50 million pound player, but the whole world sits back and looks awkwardly at the floor while Barca bid 120+ million. Ridiculous times.

Where have you been ???

The world has changed after the Neymar transfer .... English championship sides are paying £15 million for players that I've never even heard of and will never see play !!

Spurs just paid £45 million for a young , inexperienced , unproven Columbian CB !!

In an ordinary market he's worth £75m give or take £5m.

Personally I'd accept a £138m offer if it were to occur. Ridiculous fee.

Madrid
Bayern
Barca
Juve

Liverpool and United are nowhere near in terms of recent performances and i don't see anything changing any time soon. City and PSG have the funds and now likely the squads to compete at the top. I'm not interested in 'selling shirts, merchandise' etc etc i prefer watching football not the stock market.

laughable to claim 'Barca are a stepping stone club to bigger things' and then say Liverpool are not in the same sentence. is it me or are we in the Coutinho thread? a player who wants to use Liverpool as a stepping stone to a bigger club challenging for every trophy available?

I wouldn't be suprised if Hoffenheim dump your ass' out the CL qualifiers tonight

It had nothing to do with Neymar. If anything Neymar was a steal in this climate. Basically if I was a European club I would be looking at every player around the relative price range who hasn't had his release clause updated within the last 12 months. I bet there's lots of other steals available.

Basically transfer prices have almost gone up by about 120%-150% within the last 18 months.
