I'd rather risk that big splash of money on Coutinho and hopefully have him unleash his full potential with us as a world class midfielder, rather than spending the same money on 2 or 3 players of lesser quality on paper that end up as half-successes. We have enough middling players already.

Of course the ideal is to spend little and get hits like Umtiti, but those kind of deals seem more rare. Plus it's fun with a big new signing. Yay vanity!
