Look at this game against Deportivo last year where he played as a CM and did really good.
If he has any future here is the left interior position. He needs to constantly play like he did in that game.

I think he is close too. I think he is pressing less and his combination play with suarez and messi better. Clinical finishing is lacking in his form but he has it in him. Clear messi and suarez are trying to keep his head up and helping him work through it--i am sure they see training where he does wicked things with the ball.

Coutinho has been world class even before Barca and I know he has the experience at world/international level to not get in his own head the way he has simply for bad performances. It seems he never settled in here, even when he was playing excellent football last season he never smiled which seemed strange. Something seems to be going on off the pitch, family troubles or something.

The only real reason why I wanted him here in the first place was to keep Neymar happy. That worked out well.
I hate giving up on players like this but he isn’t on a good trajectory atm. Apart of me wants to see if he’d figure it out more after one more season but I think what worries me is his lack of fight, almost pride to an extent. But he needs to figure it out soon or we should move him on. He was supposed to be Iniesta’s replacement and if he isn’t going to be that, we need him out of the way so others can get a look, namely Aleñá y Puig.
Arthur-de Jong-Puig could be the closest we get to Xavi-Busi-Iniesta for a while so we should let it start to gel sooner than later, particularly if that means Coutinho needs to be out of the picture. Point being, we have options in the squad already and coming down the pipe for this role in the squad so he either needs to show some fight and win his spot or move on.

he is a tiny 19 year old mid still playing in the 3rd division with zero spain youth caps and is not rated AT ALL outside barcelona.
every big team has a few puig level prospects.
i would like him to make it, but odds are very slim.
stop penciling him into a first team lineup like he's one of the best rated prospects in world........
