Ya'll must've forgotten the Coutinho that first arrived at Barcelona. Valverde crushed his spirit like he did for Dembele and Semedo. Recall, it took those guys some time to gather and switch their games too. Neither of those guys performed up to snuff like Coutinho did. He'll be alright just needs to adapt to Valverde's weird football.

What is weird is Coutinho played very well last spring, that was under EV. He was our 2nd or 3rd best player in league last year. Might be part EV, but a lot is in his head. I think in the end he just may be a really bad fit for a team lead by Messi because Messi deserve all the freedom in movement and roles a squad can spare. Coutinho will have to adapt a lot better or he will be a bit player until Messi has moved on--and that may not be all that different to Coutinho's effective days too.

thats the issue though.. there is no 'adapting' to EVs football style. the only player (outfield) whos played consistently well is Messi but hes playing a different game of football to mortals at this stage.. everyone else has had patches here and there. it really isn't a style either, its basically let individuals do what they want regardless of the team shape - its fucking criminal to see the right side of our field so dead and do nothing to fix it. EV is safety first yet hes happy to let Semedo get tag teamed down the right as we saw vs Madrid.

Coutinhos never been mr consistent so he needs game time which he won't be getting if Dembele keeps performing and Valverde doesn't trust him in the midfield

I'd love to be wrong and see Coutinho up his game but i cant see it right now, sad but it is what it is

Subbing him in fells like having a player sent off. A waste of space, doesn't offer anything useful.

He comes on and doesn't look interested at all and often loses the ball doing dumb cheap shit.

Even Dembele at his worst is more useful.
