8 - Pedri

Well, he doesn't need to get to an insane level physically. Iniesta is the benchmark. Pedri just needs to get that little bit stronger.

Stamina is not an issue at all.

Iniesta was underrated physically. Never seemed weak to me. Was rather agile. Pedri doesn't have agility either imo, like Iniesta casually evaded physical duels due to of his agility. Pedri doesn't have that, so opponents easily get close to him and push him aside.

Elusive is the term. Was very hard to get close to Iniesta, due to a combination of agility and technique. Pedri is more like a slower Fabregas / David Silva to me. Bernardo is the closest to his qualities. Overall, I wouldn't consider Bernardo Silva elite. Was never elite to me.

Pedri would get into just about every midfield in the world.

Nowehere near weakness as made out even if can improve yet.

This obsession with him being slow is usual backing wrong horse.

Opponents dont 'easily' get close to him and push him aside. Utter fantasy. He is one of the best dribblers in the team and evading opposition even if at times is a bit too relaxed on ball but nowhere near as made out.

Quality is what matters not careering inot opposition like a lunatic.

I bet opposition muscle other seen to be terriers much more than Pedri.. players who have less awareness of whats around them.

Not so sure, genetics and physical qualities aren't easy to improve on. He looks like a high school kid. Look at him after min 50. His face is all red, it is obvious he is not the most gifted footballer physically, to put it mildly.

Gavi is different. He is built more like Messi. Short, but fierce, and with a low center of gravity, not skinny at all. More like a Verratti build.

This is the single reason why I believe he will not make it big in a global level.

If it is pace or agility then it's extremely hard. But here is about endurance, balance, physical contact. It all can be improved with training and age.

Pedri just needs to be stronger. He already can beat other players with no pace, pure technique.

And how can the best midfielder in Liga this season not make it global???

Not when plays AM as need structure but against likes of Man U and them leaving Kessie in space to mark FDJ been better with Pedri deeper for me.

Basically freedom to roam. Think of Xavi as 10 for Spain.

That may require the team build around him and at 20 it is still early though.

Xav was not an AM for Spain in same way Pedri is and Spain always played with other AM type players.

All players will have some freedom but he isnt an AM if want him to try and play way Xavi did back then.

Yep, for me he just needs to get a bit bulkier to hold his ground better. Everything else is a non-issue, but I guess Serghei has the fear of technical, typical Barca midfielders getting obsolete (induced by our recent history).

Xavi played as 10 for Spain but he also touched the ball as much as he wanted. Pedri when he plays as an AM, he doesn't touch much. He should touch the ball and involve as many as he wants, like Xavi.

Xavi said before that Pedri like Xavi himself, wants the ball and struggle when he doesn't touch it.
