Well considering Nolan previous expert opinion on previous non-Brazilian south American players you have to conclude that Suarez is the bees knees

I gotta be honest, I don't like deferring to the other people's judgement of players (except jamrock) and I was hesitant to do so with suarez. but I don't watch dutch football regularly, I tried watching a few games last year and it was like pouring acid into my eyes.

but my point was nolan has a major chubby for non-brazilian south americans, and when he cusses one who is clearly crazy-talented then it's likely that the flaw is an obvious and fatal one. suarez clearly has skill and scores ridiculous goals but, let's be honest, if he was that good he wouldn't still be at ajax.

He came to Ajax only in 2007 & had just more than average first season(for Dutch standards) with them scoring 20 goals of 41 appearances...Agree he was already in Eredivisie but not every player can make a huge impact in their first season!!! The next season he scored 28 goals. They lost their main-striker in Hunter, their big-money signing Miralem Sulejmani was not quite a success and so the newly appointed manager made him captain, after the departure of Vermaelen, so that they could hold on Suarez for more time. In fact they were short on strikers and had to buy Marko Pantelić in the last stages of the transfer window. Now this season Suarez really exploded and that explains the new-found interests in him!!!

He's 22, hardly getting on in years, if anything he's ripe for a move now.

immaculately conceived
I've seen some games from him (the latest being against Argentina with his country and the last Uefa cup match day with Ajax) and no doubt he will score goals with Barcelona. I only have three problems with Luis:

-he misses a lot of chances, I believe he missed two great chances in teh Uefa cup tie.
-it's the Dutch competition. I am not sure if he would fit at the absolute highest level.
-his facial expression

I agree, i said that to times ago here.

Ajax will not sell him for at least 25million euro. He is never worth that. Then you should better buy Mata,Aguero or Robinho who have proved in better competitions and are also young(Robinho not)

And at ajax everything revolves around Suarez...

Exactly. Good point mate, usually when we buy players the whole team revolves around them at their previous team, so when they come to Barca and their not the star player anymore, they get all lost and under perform. Good eg. is Henry.

Well, Aguero misses way too many chances as well... His pace is world class & in fact I reckon he has a better pace than Messi, but when all that matters is finishing he loses that composure!!! Of all the 4 choices would take Mata any time, but forget that option he's not gonna come, Valencia aren't gonna let him go. Robinho is bound to lose his enthusiasm once he realizes that there's no way in hell he'll out beat Messi for Balon D'or or World Player of the Year even if we won the treble again & he'd say he'd like to move on to make his dream come true!!! That leaves us with only Suarez, a li'l bit of risk I know, but worth taking that risk because he showed he's technical already & Pep is no Mourinho to fuck up technical players!!!:pep::flagvl8:

Aguero missing chances in La Liga, and scores too in La Liga. Suarez missing chances in Eredivisie, and scores too in the Eredvisie. Thats my point ;). I think that Aguero has much more potency then Suarez.

Thats why it is a big risk when you pay 25million for Suarez. EVERYTHING at ajax revolves around Suarez, and yes i can know, because i watch the Eredivisie every week.

So say no for Suarez!(yes i hate him a little because he has make much dive's.....)

Just to clear things up, I was mostly just warning that he wouldn't be an instant hit.

All things considered I'm a big Suarez fan, his talent is undeniable and I'd love for him to play for Barca, but I also have an irrational love of Uruguayan footballers. He has scored against big teams before but his stats are also inflated by the target practice teams in the dutch league, and Suarez has a less impressive record in important games. More worryingly he is wasteful and hasn't impressed against the best teams in World Cup qualifying (If you watched the Uruguay-Argentina match you would have noticed he was MIA)

But considering what he has accomplished at his age, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Ajax defeated Dinamo 2-1 and Suarez was MoM. Scored one from penalty and made an assist for Ajax second goal.

The thing is that we cannot buy either Agüero nor Mata (nor any player who has played more than 5 games in La Liga) on January, so that leaves them out... So basically we have Suárez and Robinho as option for our LW position... :txiki:

I don't know if you're being saracastic, but yes, La Liga has that weird rule that a player cannot be transfered to another team in the spanish league if he has played five or more matches... That's why we don't see any mid-season transfers between spanish teams, unlike the EPL...

Nice dive by Suarez at the penalty moment.

I've never said that a player should be come in january, we can also wait 6 months for a better option.
