9 - Robert Lewandowski

You have him, you play him. Sometimes starting 2nd half. No other tractors in the barn.

That's just a bad freaken streak. He did not score, nor did anyone else. Bad freaken streak. A spell. That's all. Be understanding.
Now look...New year, new beginning, new up wave. Remember the treble crown is still for grabs.

He is not starting any more games. Enough said.
He is now Ferran Torres's son.
Our new starter.

obligatory Fuck Lewandowski

Gavi was not afraid to scold Robert Lewandowski during the Atletico Game. Between the 35th and 45th minute of the first half, Lenglet was allowed move forward with the ball, practically acting as an extra midfielder due to Lewandowski not pressing. Seeing this, Gavi didn’t hesitate to call out the Polish striker, raising his arms and yelling from a distance, demanding that he press Lenglet more aggressively. This situation happened several times, frustrating Gavi. After the first half while Gavi approached Lewandowski to express his concerns. Their exchange lasted only about 10 or 15 seconds. Even after the conversation, Gavi kept thinking about it and decided to talk it over with Pedri. Via:

What is frustrating about him is that when the team plays well, he also seems to play well. But when the team needs him to produce a "moment of magic" he is rarely there. Like it happed with Atletico. Very frustrating

All right. It looks like this.
Assumption 1:
1. Lewandowski was bought to be some Wunderwaffe and sometimes he was, but too often he did not fire.
2. When he does not fire, there's hardly anybody on the team who can bail him out. As a result, he is the guy to take the heat for all the shortcomings.
3. They say, the attacking structure is so designed that he is the focal point of it and if he fails, the whole scheme collapses.
if that's the case.
Conclusion 1:
Yes, they depend on him a lot, but that's a dumb design without a back up plan. What if he were injured or red carded? Blame not Lewandowski but the club management to have allowed to depend on one old guy.

Assumption 2:
He was bought to be squeezed like the remaining juice in the lemon, still high on his fame and able to instill faith in youngsters, 2-3 year project ok. Xavi asked him: Would you be willing to be a part of our project? Not a long term design.
After one year or two, another back up striker would be growing his feathers alongside him.

Conclusion 2.
Nobody like that have ever been found. Right? Right? Nobody...was ... found. Right?

So, now, a combat instructor, a former champion, nonetheless a retiree but in good a shape still, is now expected to lead charge at full swing for 40+ season matches for the 3rd season?! 😳😳😳🤔🤔 Gimme a break, why don't you?

As they say; expectations ought to be measured by resources, not by ambitions.

The people who think this guy was ever better than far more talented players like Benzema and Suarez must be high on glue. It is so obvious that he is absolutely finished for fuck sake and people here are writing essays on how to get the best out of him? IT WILL NOT HAPPEN, EVER. Barca will win nothing in future with this guy as the main striker. He has good hold up play but was basically just a goalscorer playing for by far the most dominant team in a defensively porous league.

The fact people were outraged that this guy didn't win the Ballon d'or over Messi simply for beating up on Bundesliga teams who can't defend is laughable. The guy was pissed on in every other metric than goalscoring by Messi that season, and Messi is at least 15 times better at football than he is.

No offence, but what has this guy ever done outside of the Bundesliga to warrant his 'GOAT' reputation? Even his CL trophy is dubious. Other than that great performance at Dortmund against Real Madrid I don't remember him making any kind of difference is any really important CL game? He's really just a scorer and other strikers have done far more at the top of the game than this guy and are far more rounded players.

I have never been a fan and I genuinely believe he's extremely popular for some reason, and it leads to vast overrating of him, because people want him to be the best, rather than genuinely thinking he is. We have people here saying he's the best striker ever and better than R9, which is so delusional it just defies belief. He's liked a lot more than Benzema and Suarez and nobody can convince me this doesn't play a massive part in people who rate him above them.

WHY is this guy loved to the extent he is? To the point that people fanboy over him and can't bear any criticism of him? I mean we have Tempt, Rassy (I like them both but come on), TemporaryFan talking him up and slagging off Barca legends like Iniesta and Messi at the same time (!), that Tookien guy and other various people posting like they are related to him. Why are they so invested in a fucking footballer who doesn't know they exist and doesn't care about them? And overrate the fuck out of him and spin everything in his favour, blame his team-mates for his failure. Makes zero sense. It's creepy to be honest. They're like Ronaldo fanboys, except Ronaldo is far better than 'Lewy' ever was.

Like @Andresito says, Lewandowski is extremely bland, both as a person and as a footballer. He's like plain white bread with no butter on it. I just assume he is being carried by his good looks at this point in terms of people liking him.

Totally agree with @Messi983 and @KingLeo10 on this guy. I have never ever got the hype around him - he's a finisher with a very limited skillset who hung out at Bayern in a league his team had a vast monopoly over for 8 years or so. Benzema and Suarez are definitely better for me, and if I ever said differently I was betraying my real feelings to appease friends on here.

Overall though, I just don't get why Tempt, Tookien, TemporaryFan and so on defend this guy like they're related to him and get angry at JUSTIFIED criticism of him, fanboying over him like schoolgirls. It's very creepy to be honest.

It is a matter of perception. Football is not mathematics where you'd have the same results regardless of the methods chosen to solve the equation. It is more like figure skating: visual aesthetics plus stats.
I never said he was better than Ronaldo or Messi although 2020 was when they robbed him. Messi along with Suarez together could carry his boots that season. He owned them, as simple as that. Yet they decided that Lewandowski raising the accolade trophy was not worthy to be televised. Fuck Ballon d'Or ever since. I don't even know who won it this time or last year or the year prior.
Bundesliga is top 3 of Europe. He played for Bayern that has just as good pedigree as this club or Liverpool. Your belittling it and Lewandowski stardom there is like me belittling Messi, who in fact, after going to PSG did much worse over there than Lewa so far at Barca.

Messi did much worse at PSG than Lewandowski did at Barca? Only if you go by goal stats.

No Messi didn't 'rob' Lewandowski - he was far better in all metrics of the game except goalscoring. He is, was and always will be an infinitely better footballer than Robert fucking Lewandowski, who isn't a special footballer at all (note I said footballer, not goalscorer). I don't even like Messi, but you are comparing the best player of all time to 'Lewa' - do you see how utterly fucking ridiculous that is?

The Bundesliga is a weak league defensively, it is well-known. The teams there are open as fuck. Lewandowski was part of by far the strongest team in it (though partially because he played for them). This is extremely conducive to scoring lots of goals. Kane is doing it now (though Kane is a far better passer than Robert ever was).

The guy just isn't anywhere near as good as Messi or various other players, and no he wasn't 'robbed'. I can accept he should have won it in 2020, but in 2021 he failed plenty in the CL and didn't do enough to justify it as an all-round footballer. You saying he was 'robbed' just is buying into the cult of Lewandowski that everyone seems to fall for. Or maybe people just don't like Messi, who knows. Lewandowski does seem a far more popular human being than him, in that he has very few people who dislike him, whereas Messi gets piled on by the enormous number of Ronaldo lovers due to their jealousy of his clear superiority.

I disagree Bundesliga was top three league in Europe - fourth yes. PL and La Liga were both clearly better, and Serie A for me too. Bundesliga teams outside Bayern and sometimes Dortmund struggle in the CL all the time. The number of hammerings teams like Leipzig get is legendary.

What really makes me laugh is idiots call Messi 'Eiberman' etc, as if Lewandowski was scoring against Sacchi's Milan and Michels's Netherlands every week in the Bundesliga...

Do we honestly think if Messi had been in Lewa's position - scoring multiple goals in the Bundesliga - people would have advocated him for Ballon d'Or? Or would they have said he was playing in a weak league against weak teams? Of course they would have. You just know had the roles been reversed Tempt would be making that point if Messi had been playing there and scoring lots of goals in 2021.

All these players who get accused of feasting on weak teams. It probably applies more to Lewandowski more than anyone given his hiding out at Bayern for 8 years, yet he's the only one it is never levelled against. Funny. Proves my point that he's universally very well-liked and people don't want to criticise him. Even Tempt said he only cottoned on to his universal populairty with football fans when I raised the point, so even he knows there's something to it.

Hate cunts like that who are universally arse-licked and protected from criticism. Ronaldo is at least hated by many people, everyone seemingly loves Lewa (everyone but me).

The only cult I see existing is the one of Messi. Look at all these fellows here with PessiMessi, ChujoMessi, PizdaMessi, MessiSressi and such, in their nicknames...like they're under some spell of magic, which never affected me.
In fact, Messi bores me like the Lord of the Rings does, I just fall asleep before 1 hour mark. I might as well watch it instead of taking a sleeping pill. Yet, I don't go movies (read Messi) thread and call it shit. I have no problem entrusting that it's a masterpiece.

Better experts than you, due respect reserved there of course, whose authority of opinion I am confident of and who are worthy my trust, voiced their opinion about Lewandowski being great and best in 2020 and Ballon d'Or deprived, that align with mine own. Especially years 2014 - 21. Besides, I trust my own instincts.
You disagree? Tough shit, Pal. I'll have to live with that. It is not like our livelihoods depend on it.

Nordic ghost yeti

Erling Haaland in his last 3 FULL GAMES vs Juventus, Manchester United & Aston Villa COMBINED:

• 19 passes
• 0 goals
• 0 assists
• 0 dribbles completed
• 0 key passes
• 0 shots on target
• 0 shots blocked
• 0 shots
• 0 long balls
• 0 crosses
• 0 interceptions
All those cunts who mocked anyone like me who said Haaland isn't all that have been looking clueless for ages now. The guy's all around game has always been a tragedy, but now his scoring his fallen off a cliff too. The guy is an absolute donkey of a footballer.

I have been proved right again.
