9 - Robert Lewandowski

This. And his fall of the cliff is invetiable. I don't want another old Suarez situation, which was going on for 2 years too long.

As soon as his fall off the cliff happens, it's too late for us if we don't sign another striker before.
Yeah, he is doing well. I said I would go easier on him and he's doing himself proud, I am pleased it's currently going well.

But he can't work miracles, he will soon be 37 and can only go on so long. If he was 10 years younger it would be perfect. However, that isn't the scenario. Need to plan ahead as nobody can really be performing at the required standard as a number 9 at 37/38.

I mean I really don't wanna come across as slagging Lewy - that is NOT my intention. It's Temptation who is pissing me off. He is so blinded with man love for Lewy that he cannot handle even gentle criticism you offered, and then disrespectfully called your argument 'silly' (it isn't).

It says wayyyy more about his parasocial relationships personality than it does about you mate. He's the dickhead in this discussion, not you.

Not really. I just speak for everyone when I say people are fed up of you not being able to take the slightest bit of constructive criticism on Lewy. It is really pathetic and people are tired of it I would bet.

I come in here to read decent, balanced discussion on Lewy. Yet all I see is your clueless fanboy worship.

But continue to suck up to delancey and gang up on me with him, despite despising his political opinions.

@Temptation

I am sick of arguing with you and us being at each other's throats. I was just saying that other people have told you about your fanboyism in here too.

I don't wanna argue with you and I am enjoying the forum less with you winding me up, so please leave me alone and I will do the same to you. Thank you.

Otoh, what you describe here can be called bias as well, and might make you dismiss a valid point, just because you believe him a blind fanboy.

Example not long ago, a clear and maybe a most prominent hater of Lewandowski, Mr Freetocan, put forth a theory that teammates ignore Lewandowski on purpose, to show Flick they want him out of the starting 11. Does that sound like a great service, wouldn't say so, and myself I wouldn't describe it as such either. It's not bad, and with such presence in the final third there are plenty of opportunities, but I wouldn't say it's unjust to say, that Raphinia and Yamal can have their ballon d'or glory mode days and waste Lewy's positioning - it's better than it was, but not really a pure center forward focused system either.

I also read here how his prolific scoring was because of him playing with Robbery and Robben, when in reality, the latter, while brilliant, was selfish to the point of insanity. The amount of times he blatantly ignored Lewandowski in almost completly free to score position, just to charge at defenders and try his trademark shot for 8th time or sth was v. hard to watch, then he scored one of all that and all was forgotten. Even Pep commented on this, that he can't make 33 year old player change his habits or something along the lines. It was funny, because when Lewandowski retaliated by not passing too, was met with an uproar about how selfish he is, while with Robben it was so par for the course, that hardly anyone had a problem with it.

Last but not least, it's always how he benefits from this attack, but not a lot how the attack benefits from him. To isolate him, even old, slow and finished, surely must cost some resources and maybe brings a bit more freedom to roam for others. Idk but imo can be suspected with the constant - purple patch, teams focus on him, others pick up scoring, Lewy bad sell, focus on Lewy wanes, scores more purple patch, repeat - scheme going since forever around him.

I agree, that stuff is unbalanced too and it's true sometimes players ignore him. I get your point to be honest, and Robben was rather selfish.

I was just saying that FBCfan22 made a harmless point and Tempt took it too personally, that's all. I am not claiming that some of the criticism is not over the top too.

I think the truth is obviously somewhere in the middle, as tends to be the case - he's not doing as brilliantly as Tempt and others claim and claims of still being better than Kane and Mbappe simply cos of more goals are too much, but he's definitely doing better than some others are saying too.

He has strengths and flaws. Personally I think he can do well for the rest of the season and score some decisive goals.

He still has something to offer in the team.

He is actually a great super-sub. I believe he scored in most games that he started on the bench.

If his ego would allow it, him taking a pay cut and being 2nd striker option would be great IMO. Not gonna happen, tho.

Why would he do that? He's gonna keep the salary and be 1st choice next season.

Next season should be the transition one. He should be the no. 1 at the beginning, but we should sign a promising striker in the summer.

I was talking beyond that.

If we fuck up striker market now, we might be doomed.
