In 2017-18 I remember they were heavily disadvantaged by the referee too. Marcelo's handball was so blatant and on purpose to stop the cross, he even admitted it after the game. But that game Bayern missed like 10 clear goal chances so it's more their own fauly than anyone else.

Bayern deserved to go to the final in 2016 and especially 2018. Ironically Lewy himself was the weakest link in that 2018 semi against Real. At that time he was considered a bit of a flat-track bully. Had Bayern had another more direct coach similar to Heynckes or Flick, they might have gotten more CLs in 2014-2019.
